John Britton Obituary

John Debbs Britton, age 53, went to his eternal home on April 23, 2007. Born December 12, 1953 to Jack and Nancy Britton, he grew up in Cuchara and was a graduate of La Veta High School. He married Linda Vezzani September 7, 1974, and graduated with degrees in Psychology and Sociology from Adams State College in 1976. John's career as a bookseller began when a student at the Adam's State bookstore, fulfilled his dream as an entrepreneur with the opening of O-U-R Books in the Bon Shopping Center, then pioneered in the internet book selling industry with the launch of Britton Booksellers in 1995. John battled with strength and perseverance against Multiple Sclerosis for 28 years. Although his body was weak, John provided for his beloved family and imbued his children with the strength of spirit, integrity, and his courageousness that marked his life. His strength, love, and wit are dearly missed. John was preceded in death by his father Jack Britton in the fall of 2006. He is survived by his wife Linda, his children Jamie Walker and Joshua, his grand children Maxwell and John "Jack" Walker, his mother Nancy, and his three siblings Cindy Perotti, David, and Danny. A graveside service will be held at the La Veta Town Cemetery on Saturday, April 27, 2007 at 1pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the MS Alliance of Colorado Springs.

Dear Britton family,
I was so sad to hear of your loss. I remember your dad so well, and know that he will be missed by you all. I will be in Toronto this weekend, and will be unable to attend the service, but please know that you all will be in my thoughts through this time of loss.
