John Byrne Obituary

John Byrne, 96, passed away on August 21, 2016 in Colorado Springs, CO.

John was born in Denver, Colorado to John and Emma Byrne, one of eight siblings. He graduated from Holy Family HS in 1939 and joined the Army in March 1942. He served in the Pacific during WW II and was honorably discharged as a 1st Lieutenant in 1946. John and Geneva Barnhart were married in April 1945. They were blessed with seven children.

John's career included working for the US Air Force, Lockheed Martin Company, Opportunity School, Ampex Corporation, and Santa Clara (CA) County as an electronic technician/instructor. In retirement, John and Geneva enjoyed travelling around the country by RV, and visiting kids and grandkids. Their last hitching post was at Park of the Sierras in Coarsegold, CA. John moved back to Colorado in 2010 shortly after Geneva's death.

Preceding John in death were his parents, beloved wife Geneva, daughter Janet, granddaughter Emily, his brothers Robert and Louis, and sisters Mary, Betty and Margie.

Brothers Don and Frank survive John. Also surviving are John's children: Mike (Angelika), John, Teri Cobillas (Joe), Patrice Tafolla (Jerry), Greg, Margaret Herrfeldt (Bobby). Grandchildren: Amanda, Carissa, and Katie; Maria, Steven, and Audrie; Sarah and Michael, Brendan, Jeremy, and Aidan. Great grandchildren: Viola and Evan; Hattie and Dorothy; and Josiah.
