John Roderick Castle Jr. obituary

John Castle Obituary

John Roderick Castle, Jr. loving, devoted Father and Grandfather, peacefully went home to his beloved Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at the age of 81.

John was born to John and Phyllis (Goldsmith) Castle on April 30, 1935. Born in North Branch, Michigan, John was a devoted son and worked hard on the family farm that he would fondly reminisce about for the rest of his life. Inspired by his Grandfather Fred "Goldie" Goldsmith he learned to love the game of Baseball and eventually played in the Minor Leagues until an injury shattered his dream of playing professional Baseball. He was passionate about Baseball and coached the game all of his life. He moved on to build a successful business and was a contractor for 43 years. He loved the challenge of being a businessman and guided several of his children into their own businesses, with his experience and keen insight. John loved writing and became an author, publishing "Goldie's Curve Ball" an honorary biography of his Grandfather's Baseball career.

John was blessed with two beautiful, loving wives. The late Delores "Dolly" (Ruggieri) Castle and Maria (Battista) Castle. He is survived by his ten children: David Castle, Cassandra Giardina, John Castle III, Julie Castle, Victoria Waters, Leslie Castle, Melodie (Josh) Creager-Good, Mark (Jaime) Castle, Jared (Heather) Castle, and Amber (Chris) Preboth. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren: Emily, Jonathon, Zeke, Justin, Bobby, Nicole, River, Victoria, Averie, Olivia, and his constant companions who he affectionately nicknamed his "Three Amigos" Dalton, Jared, and Derek.

John was a family man and always put God and his family first. He was a loving, nurturing Father who was a constant inspiration to all of his children and grandchildren.

A celebration of John Roderick Castle, Jr.'s life will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Pikes Peak United Methodist Church, 2927 W. Pikes Peak Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80904.

Many years ago, I met my first friend in Colorado ( Leslie ) who introduced me to the Castle family.
My family lived over a 1000 miles away and often I was very homesick. John was always so nice and welcoming. He always made me feel right at home, and I was fortunate to be invited to a lot of their family events. May the memories of his life help fill the holes in his loved ones hearts
