John Flynn Obituary

John "JB" Flynn
January 15, 1931
June 18, 2022

John B. Flynn, age 91, passed away on June 18, 2022 at home in Colorado Springs after a prolonged illness.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am on July 7th at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Colorado Springs. A lunch will be offered after the service at the church. The service will be live streamed on:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9KW1GFXeFL8. Burial will be July 30th in Dodgeville, Wisconsin.
John was born in Dodgeville, Wisconsin to Robert and Dorothy Flynn on January 15, 1931. He graduated from Dodgeville High School and went to business college for several years before enlisting in the Air Force, serving 30 years and 20 days. He retired as a Chief Master Sergeant on June 1, 1981 and was awarded numerous commendation medals.
He married Margaret Moore on May 8, 1954 in Dodgeville.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his son-in-law, Craig Roberts, and grandson, Colin Shumate.
John is survived by his wife, Margie; brothers Jim Flynn (MaryLu) and Patrick Flynn (Jeanne), sister Judy Hagan (Tom); daughters Lisa Liddy (Joseph), Lori Shumate, and Kelly Roberts; and grandchildren Carley, Emma, Logan, Duncan (Jenna), and Ryan.
John loved to travel and while that started in the Air Force (Korea, Viet Nam, Germany and much of Europe), it continued in retirement with a total country count of more than 25. After retiring from the Air Force, Dad became a successful Realtor in Colorado Springs. Usually, every house he sold came with an opportunity to attend Air Force Academy football games. Season ticket holders from 1976 until the pandemic, the tailgate crowd was large and varied and the parties held pre-game were something to behold! John loved Air Force football, basketball, and hockey along with the Denver Broncos, Colorado Avalanche, and the Green Bay Packers. Watching his Chicago Cubs finally win a World Series was a highlight for him as well! He loved playing golf more than the game loved him, though he did have 2 "hole in 1" shots.
John had a big smile and a twinkle in his beautiful blue eyes. He was much loved and will be greatly missed.
