For some of you who don't know me my name is Richard Mast and I am Ken Franklin's favorite son in law and as he is my favorite father in law. I would like to first say thank you for coming today and celebrating Ken's life today. I am sorry for not being able to attend due to circumstance beyond my control.
I want to say what an honor and a privilege it is to be part of the Franklin family. I have always enjoyed the time that I was able to spend with dad. Ken is someone that I truly admired as a husband and a father.
When I first got to meet dad Kelly told me was not like me at all. Dad was not good at using a wrench or hammer, but could tell you the elevation and population of Zimbabwe, which I have no clue where Zimbabwe is. Dad's biblical knowledge was amazing. I enjoyed having mom and dad visit and taking them to church. He would sit in class and listen very intent to the teacher and always knew the answers.
Kelly asked me the other day to tell her one thing that I will always remember about dad. I told her it would crack me up that when dad would come to visit I would walk in to the house after work and there was dad 5' from the TV, volume loud as could be, a very intense look watching the news or weather channel, now who watches the weather channel that intense? DAD did, and he would block out all the noise from the grand kids, mom, and Kelly being loud in the kitchen. I would think WOW what focus he has, and then come to find out, dad did not have his hearing aids in his ears.
There are so many memories that I have of dad like watching him play monster with the grand-kids. Going to Los Angeles to spend the afternoon search a cemetery for a head stone and not finding it. Going to the baseball game, watching him bowl. His love for food, and taking him to Rosa Marias for a garbage burrito. Seeing his pictures from all his travels with mom and Alan. The videos and pictures of dad in all of the plays and performances, and especially the one when he dressed up like a lady. Watching that furry thing on his face becoming a permanent fixture. Lastly everyone told me that dad does not dance, but on our wedding day he was out on the dance floor having a blast and you couldn't get him off the dance floor.
Dad will truly be missed, but I know for a fact that someday we will see him again. I know that on Saturday morning when dad took his final breathe here on earth he opened his eye and he was face to face with the Lord Jesus. I can hear Jesus saying Ken, well done my good and faithful servant, well done'
Thank you again for coming out today and celebrating with our family Ken Franklin's life.

I'm so very sorry for the sudden loss of your loved one, Ken! It is only by the love and mercies of God that we are able to walk through moments like this and continue on with our lives! If we embrace all that God offers and stand firm in our faith, we will experience peace from God that goes beyond human comprehension. I pray Gods love will fill the void that has been caused by Kens death! You will see him again in Heaven!
