Thank you all for your kind words about my brother John. Everyone recalls his smile and humor and that he would do anything for anyone with that smile on his face. To say he will missed by me is an understatement, my best life long friend is now with me in a different way, with that smile on his face. John leaves a legacy of love and laughter, there is no better one than that.

John was my best friend for over 20 years, and he had a positive effect on my life and every one he knew. He enriched the lives of those around him. He was articulate and talented in many ways. He was always willing to help people at his own expence. I will miss him for so many reasons. His spirituality will always be appreciated by me. He will be remembered with love by the few people lucky enough whom he loved and he called his friends. I am very greatful for the gift of him in my life. Bruce Garza

We were so shocked to hear of John's passing. Our prayers and deepest sympathies go out to the Hawkins' family. My parents were deeply saddened as they have always thought of John as a part of our family. Meeting John and Diane at UCCS led to a friendship filled with laughter, lots of coffee, tuna fish sandwiches and late night camp fires and music. My home was John's home. We moved as one and John was the hub. John was Stan's best man at our wedding. He was our house-mate when we all lived on Prairie Rd with our son Michael. John was with us the night our daughter, Amanda, came into this world. We have lost part of our history. I love you, John.

I miss you every day when I walk into the office, John. You were always that positive person who could even make Mondays easier to face. You never failed to greet me with a smile, and working with you, and knowing you personally for the short time I did, was and is a blessing. Rest and celebrate in our loving God's presence.
