Hello girls, since I have known your dad all his life but have not been in contact with you two for many years. I always asked your dad about your well being, etc.
John David Hayward was a good worker at all he undertook at home and work. We talked several times about eternity. His commentwas always "I'm okay between my soul and the Saviour."

Uncle Jack is a person I always admired. When I was a child, he took me for my first motorcycle ride on his Honda 350. I always enjoyed his company at the Hayward family reunions. He was good at everything he did and in all professions he tried -and was someone you could look up to. He was a great mentor and friend. He was such a nice guy and I'm sorry that we didn't see each other in recent years. Although, I enjoyed his emails about how he loved his work (cop stories :) and loved life. He will surely be missed~

Sweet Joy and Julie
We first met your Dad when he was selling insurance and you were just little girls, over 30 years ago now, and we have been friends ever since. We always looked forward to our visits and phone calls with John. He would have so many funny stories to share and he made you smile the minute he walked into the room. He was a caring, giving, wonderful man and we will miss him deeply. He will be in our hearts and in the hearts of all those who were lucky enough to know him, and he will be by your side watching over his little girls forever. God bless you and give you strength sweet ones. We are so sorry for your loss and are here for you.
John....Good bye dear friend. Love you always.

I first met John when he was assigned to Woodland Park from the Colorado State Patrol academy. I was a Trooper in the Colorado Springs office. About five years ago, I transfered to the Woodland Park office and became teammates with John.
I am a motor officer who often rides when a smart person would be using a patrol car, but I could always count on my little buddy to be there to shelter me from the elements.
John always had a good story to tell, another tatoo to show me, or a joke to share. He always said goodby to me by telling me if there was anything he could do, anything, just call him, and he would be right there!
When my twins were born, I got to hear all the stories of his twins......baby A and baby B. The first day back from my days off every week, John would ask how my twins were doing. I really enjoyed swapping our war stories of raising twins.
John was a special person and good friend. He will be deeply missed by his fellow Troopers and the citizens of Colorado.

Joy and Julie,
Please let me tell the two of you that your father and I first met when he was with Manitou PD. He started asking me about the State Patrol. I was glad he got on, and his 1st duty station was in Woodland Park. We had the same shift and days off for nearly his entire career. He made sure he told me the "Joke of the Day" every day. I had him to family functions, and told him about my adventures with my kids. He was a GREAT FRIEND, BROTHER, and FELLOW TROOPER. Now let me leave a message to John.
JOHN......kenneth....JOHN......kenneth,
I am glad I got to know you and be your FRIEND, and BROTHER! It was an Honor to work beside you and know that you always had my back. You told stories of our adventures and pranks, but I was the one who had to tell what really happened. My family and I will miss you very much. Thank you for being my friend.
2BAKER8, Trooper John Hayward, will be 10-42 rest in peace.

Girls, I worked with your dad at when he began his law enforcement career at PPCC and I also was a Manitou resident when he worked at MSPD. Your father was a wonderful man and was very well respected, he touched many lives. I'll never forget his amazing sense of humor! I remember also that he was a kind man with a true concern for our community. I know your hearts are full of wonderful memories of your dad, turn now to those memories for comfort and always be there for each other. And may your own lives be a living legacy to your father's memory. I am truly sorry for your loss.

My deepest sympathy for your loss. Trooper John was a very special friend to my sister, Katie, and her husband John Fisher. My mother and brother also had the opportunity to meet him. His compassion, generosity and always being there for Katie and my niece/ nephew really touched me in the stories Katie shared regarding this remarkable man. Trooper John was conveyed as a "ONE OF A KIND" !! GOD BLESS and GOD SPEED TROOPER JOHN. May his family feel his presence throughout their earthly life as he guides you from above. My prayers are with you.
