John Otto Jerrard of Colorado Springs, CO, and Ruskin, FL passed away on July 26, 2021, after suffering a major heart attack. John was born on November 7, 1945, in Salida, CO to Robert Bruce and Justina Marie Jerrard. He graduated from Regis High School in Denver, CO in 1963, then joined the Air Force and served in the Vietnam War. After ending his tour in 1967, he married Jeralynn Stange, with whom he had two children, Sydney and Sara. John earned his doctorate degree from the Veterinary School of Medicine at Colorado State University in 1984 and opened a small animal Veterinary practice in Colorado Springs, CO. He and Jeralynn divorced in 1992 and he married Terri Christiansen shortly thereafter. John retired in 2002 but continued to volunteer at animal shelters, performing spays and neuters for stray dogs and cats. In 2018, he and Terri left Colorado and moved permanently to Ruskin, FL. John's passing is preceded by his mother and father, Justina and Robert, his brother, Fr. Robert 'Bob' Jerrard, and his sister, Anne. John is survived by his wife, Terri, his two daughters, Sydney and Sara, and his grandson, Remington. A private memorial service will be held for friends and family. May he Rest in Peace.
