John Lewis Obituary

Lewis
John James
Lewis
June 17, 1947
May 12, 2022

John was born on June 17, 1947, to Len and Vera Lewis, and passed away on May 12, 2022, at the age of 74.
Survived by his beloved wife, Linda Lewis, children Brandon (Merilee) Lewis, Trenton Lewis and Shannon (Ben) Sloan. Grandchildren Wyatt, Morgan and Riley Sloan. Stepdaughter Jenny (Mike) Starr, along with their children Ryan and Nate Starr. Also, Sister Mary Ellen Johnson, brother Victor Lewis and cousin, Muriel Reeves, along with a host of relatives scattered around the United States, as well as countless friends who meant the world to him.
John came from a proud union family and particularly cherished his membership in IBEW 113.
John is preceded in death by his father Len Lincoln Lewis and his mother Veronica Agnes Lewis. Imagining their joyous reunion in heaven softens the grief of those of us who remember how close they were. Also, there for a heavenly reunion were a host of German shepherds (Boo Boos, as he liked to call them) and Cody, his all-time favorite.
John was a wonderful father, husband, brother, and grandfather. He loved his children and grandchildren unconditionally and treasured each and every moment he spent with them. He also regarded his stepfamily as his own and cherished the many shared visits and holidays. His wife Linda always said that John was the love of her life and the best husband ever. During their seventeen happy years of marriage, they enjoyed traveling, attending car shows, and eating out. (As long as John could find a coupon because we all know how he loved a good deal).
John's lifelong passion for fast muscle cars began in high school. He enjoyed talking about his twelve classic cars, particularly his Vettes and GTOs, nearly as much as he enjoyed driving them. Some of his favorite memories were from his trips to Kearney, Nebraska, where he raced in the quarter mile. He didn't win, but just the pleasure of being there and competing put a huge smile on his face. Whenever you hear a souped-up engine, think of John racing in that big engine in the sky.
John loved to listen to music, and, according to him, the Rolling Stones were the Best Band Ever. He frequently sang around the house, serenading Linda, often times singing a Christmas song during the summer.
John James Lewis was an incredibly loving and generous man, and there will forever be an enormous hole in the hearts and lives of everyone he left behind.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be given in John's name to The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region.
A Memorial Service will be held on May 26, 2022, at Blunt Mortuary, located at 2229 W. Colorado Ave. at 2:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at IBEW Local 113 at 2150 Naegele Rd.

Linda, I'm so sorry for your and John's family's loss. All of us who knew and loved John are saddened by his passing. I love that he lived life with so much joy. He was a good, generous, and loving friend for many decades. I feel privileged that our paths crossed. I'll miss his presence...and I'm so delighted that he was here.
