John Lindau Obituary

John Henry Lindau, 87, of Colorado Springs passed away on June 7, 2010, at Pikes Peak Hospice in Colorado Springs. John was born on Christmas Day, 1922 in Lincolnville, Kansas. In 1947 he married Mary Lee Stewart, who preceded him in death in 1995. John served in the United States Navy and graduated from Kansas State University with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He then worked for Stratford Engineering Corporation from 1952-1979, and served as a consultant to various engineering companies prior to retiring in 1984. He lived his entire life in his beloved State of Kansas until moving to Colorado in 2003. John was actively engaged in the Colorado Springs music community, playing in the New Horizons Band, both the Gold Band and The Swingmasters Jazz Band. He also played in the Colorado Springs Concert Band and regularly attended jazz and big band concerts in Colorado Springs and throughout the state. He was an accomplished bridge player and active in community bridge circles. John is survived by his two children, Mary R. Klever and John H. Lindau, Jr. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Bryan and Sean Klever, and two great-grandchildren, Terryn and Drew Klever. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 219 East Bijou, on Friday, June 11, at 2:00 p.m. Donations in John's memory may be made to the Engineering Department or Band Department of Kansas State University, 2323 Anderson Avenue, Suite 500, Manhattan, KS 66502-2911. Or to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation, 355 Lexington Ave., 15th Floor, New York, NY 10017.
