John Bradley Lindsay, age 84, beloved father, brother, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 29, 2021. Born February 18, 1937, in Pennsylvania to John and Bette Lee (Henry) Lindsay, he grew up in Philadelphia, where he developed his lifelong love of music while attending symphony concerts with his paternal grandmother. John was a 1956 graduate of the Church Farm School in Exton, PA, where he developed his interest in electronics which marked his military service, work, and hobbies. He entered the Air Force in 1958 and worked in the Strategic Air Command on electronic navigation and communication systems of military aircraft. In 1960, while stationed at Plattsburgh Air Force base in New York, John met and married the love of his life, Donna Bruce. John, Donna, and their newborn son, Mark, moved to Alaska in 1962, when John was transferred to Elmendorf Air Force base in Anchorage. Daughter Lynne arrived in 1963, and in 1965, daughter Michelle (known as Dustin) was born. In 1966, John transferred to California, where he was honorably discharged after serving over 8 years in the Air Force. Upon completing his Associates degree at American River College, he began his career with the Federal Aviation Administration as a radar and high frequency radio navigation aid specialist. John and his family spent 13 years in the Sacramento area of northern California. In 1979, John followed his deep love for the mountains, moving the family to Colorado, where he continued his work for the FAA at the Pueblo and later, Colorado Springs airports. Upon retiring in 1998, after nearly 40 years of combined military and civilian federal service, he and Donna bought 5 acres east of Colorado Springs, with a spectacular view of Pikes Peak. John listened to his music, built barns, and planted 150 evergreen trees on the property. He enjoyed having his sister, Patricia nearby. John and Donna relished the company of their three young grandchildren, Aubrianna, Evan, and Heather, who loved summers at Grandpa's house. John lost his beloved wife, Donna, in 2008, and never recovered from her loss. In 2013, he moved to Albuquerque to be near his daughter Michelle (affectionately known as Dustin). From his top floor apartment at Palmilla, John now had a fabulous view of Sandia Peak, never having lost his love for the mountains. After health issues in 2019, John moved to Fir House, where he died peacefully with daughter Michelle at his side. He leaves to mourn, son, Mark (Pauline Cruz); daughter Lynne (Mike) Fillipponi; daughter, Michelle (Lucy Payne); sister, Patricia Montgomery; grandchildren, Aubrianna Lindsay (Jenny Gottsch), and Evan and Heather Fillipponi; nephew, Rod Sweet; niece, Sabrina Sweet (Kenneth Garrett); mother-in-law, Margaret Bruce; and sister-in-law, Karen Brim. John had a generous soul, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. The family thanks John's caregivers at Fir House and Road Runner Hospice for their loving care. A private memorial service will be held in Colorado at a later date. If you wish to honor John, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
