John McGlynn Obituary

John David McGlynn, Chief Master Sergeant, USAF, Retired, passed away on August 14, 2012 in Colorado Springs. He was 90 years old. John was born on May 10, 1922 in Springfield, Massachusetts to the late David and Margaret (Lonsdale) McGlynn. John enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1939. He re-enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1944 and found his calling in the U.S. Air Force in 1947. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1971 at Pease AFB in Portsmouth, NH after serving 33 years in the U.S. Military. During his proud service to the United States, John served in WWII, Korean War and Vietnam War. John was an avid painter. He also was a genealogist and historian. He will be dearly missed by his family and all who knew him. John is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pam in 1999; granddaughter, Jennifer Patricia Freeman. He is survived by his daughter, Barbara (Hawk) Freeman and sister, Barbara Hunter. Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, August 24, 2012 at 1:00PM at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, 4925 N. Carefree Circle. Inurnment at Arlington National Cemetery.
