John Morrison Obituary

July 21, 1923-March 25, 2006. John Morrison was born in Philadelphia, PA, a son of the late Robert & Marion Morrison. He was preceded in death by his brother Robert Morrison, and is survived by his brother Franklin Morrison. After serving in the Army as a surgical technician for three years, John graduated from Jefferson Medical College, with a degree in Medical Microbiology. He retired after 30 years of Civil Service for the Department of the Army, and was awarded several commendations for his work in the Biological Defense Division. He served at Fort Dietrick in Frederick, MD; Fort Douglas in Salt Lake City, UT; and at Dugway Proving Grounds in UT. John married the love of his life, Margaret Grace Brown, on July 8, 1951, and enjoyed 54 years together. They had three children, and shared their love with two adopted sons from Korea. John's greatest joy was singing. Throughout the years he participated in many community special event singing groups, barbershop quartets, acapella groups, and Soli Deo Gloria. For the last 10 years, John has been a member of Village Seven Presbyterian Church, where he sang in the choir. In previous churches, he has served as song leader, deacon, treasurer, and brotherhood president. John is survived by his wife, Margaret; five children: Rhonda M. (& husband Albert) Porter and Cheryl Grace (& husband Mark) Chapman of Colorado Springs; Steve Choi (& wife Jody) Morrison of Norwalk, CA; Mark John (& wife Lenni) Morrison of Lancaster, CA; and James Shin (and wife Cindy) Morrison of LaPalma, CA; as well as fourteen grandchildren and one great-grandson. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. at Village Seven Presbyterian Church, 4050 Nonchalant Circle South, Colorado Springs, CO. 80917.
