I was saddened to hear of the passing of "OB". As with everyone else who knew him, we all can remember his wit and humor, his stories and his teachings. Although he was a great asset to the Department of Corrections, he was a major asset to mankind. John, you certainly will be missed, but as long as we all keep you in our hearts and memories, you will remain alive. God Bless your family and make God give them peace and soltace during this trying time.

My husband and I were fortunate enough to both have worked with OB. After he retired, we would run in to him at the post office on occasion and he would always take the time to say a few words. He was always friendly. We were so saddened to hear of his passing. Our condolences to his family on your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

I was quite saddened to hear of O'Bs passing. What do you say when you lose someone that was a bright spot in your life? Someone who encouraged you to be better. I remember nights on swingshift. He always had a cup of coffee, a good story, and often good advice. He always seem to light up whenever he saw me. Whether it was at work, or away from work. I am a better person for knowing him. I will miss him terribly.

I considered it a privilege to have known John “O’B” as we all knew him. I met O’B on the first swing shift that I worked back in Jan of 1994 and he taught me many things about corrections. After his retirement, I continued to see him in the community and we would share the thought or news of the day.

“O’B” as a fellow Corrections Officer, I thank you for passing on the wisdom of the “School of Hard Knocks“. So, others and I did not have to travel that same road. As a fellow Veteran, I salute YOU for your devotion to Country and our way of Life and Freedom in time when doing the right thing was not popular.

My condolences to your family, May God keep them and bless them.
