John O'Hara Obituary

O'Hara
JOHN "JACK" B. O'HARA
July 14, 1928
March 3, 2021
The world lost its most humble, kind and charming man on the morning of March 3. John Bruce "Jack" O'Hara, 94, of Colorado Springs, passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2021. Born July 14, 1928 in Chicago, Ill., Jack grew up in West Allis, Wis. He is a U.S. veteran, having served from 1944 to 1951 in the Army and Air Force, when the two branches were still one. He is one of the unique few who served in both World War II and the Korean War, and his role was to capture moments of the service as a talented military photographer. On May 23, 1953, Jack married his wife, Jeane, and they lived happily together for 67 years. Jack met Jeane, a Colorado Springs native, while based in the Springs for his military duties. The rest was history, and they lived in their home on the northeast side of town - where they raised their family - for 55 years.
After his military service, Jack explored and excelled at many careers, including accounting, manufacturing, then finally, real estate. He loved golf and getting in turns on his skis. He was a jazz musician, playing bass and drums in pickup bands across the country. A natural creative, Jack could often be found in his workshop, tinkering away on his next stain-glass craft.
He is survived by his wife Jeane; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael (Kathy) O'Hara and Tim (Jackie) O'Hara; four granddaughters and one great-grandson. He will be sorely missed. Anyone who knew Jack knew he loved dogs more than anything on the planet. In lieu of flowers, please make any memorial contributions or tributes to the Humane Society of Pikes Peak Region. A visitation and celebration of life will be planned for later this year when CDC guidelines for COVID-19 are less restrictive for gatherings.
