Our hearts and prayers are with John’s family, his wife and their children, and his Mom and Dad. My sister, Roberta, and her family and my family, all send our love from Houston. John’s mother, Carol, is our cousin. We wish we could be there to perhaps provide some comfort, but we are there in our thoughts. When John was preparing for his medical boards, he came to Houston and stayed with us while he took a preparation class. He was a delight and we so enjoyed the opportunity to get to know him. Our love and condolences

John and I collaborated on many hospitalized patients over the last several years. He was an intelligent, thoughtful, compassionate, dedicated, capable and hard-working physician. Even on our busiest days, he always made time for a friendly exchange. I'll miss the camaraderie and friendship we shared and feel confident that everyone he worked with feels the same. He won't be forgotten. My deepest condolences to all his family.

What an honor to have known Dr Odell. We shared many conversations about rhubarb pie. I even brought him his first rhubarb for his first pie attempt. He had a smile and kind hello for everyone. No one was beneath him. I will miss him terribly in the halls of Penrose. Love and care for you all. ❤

To the family. My deepest most heartfelt condolences to his family. It is so difficult to talk about his loss without feeling heartache for his wife and children. I would love talking about NM with Dr. Odell as I am native New Mexican and received my nursing degree in Albuquerque along with meeting my spouse at UNM. My husband said of course he is a good guy if he went to UNM. He will be truly missed by the 9th floor nursing staff as we are all grieving with you. May God comfort you in these difficult times and know that you are all in my prayers.
Sincerely, Shanna Bock, RN Penrose Hospital
