John Ormanoski Obituary

John Joseph Ormanoski, Jr, 42, of Colorado Springs, passed away November 7, 2011 after a courageous 3-month battle with multiple myeloma-associated amyloidosis (a rare and very aggressive form of bone marrow cancer). "Big John" or "Ormo" as many called him, will be missed for his sense of humor, fun-loving attitude and big, big heart. John was born August 6, 1969 in Colorado Springs, to Rose Marie (LaSalle) and John Joseph Ormanoski, Sr. He graduated from Wasson High School in 1987. He attended Colorado State University for two years and then received a Bachelor Degree in Information Technology in 1992 and an MBA in 1996, both from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. John worked as an IT Systems Analyst for: Colorado Interstate Gas from 1992-2004; Goodrich Aerospace in Pueblo for the next few years; and most recently, Verizon in Colorado Springs. In addition, John acted as Business Manager for the "Nocturnal Tomatoes" musical group. He was briefly married to Sharon Marie Simpson of Colorado Springs. John's greatest joys were Colorado Rockies baseball, fishing at Bonny Reservoir with his Dad, solving a difficult logic puzzle, jamming out to loud rock music, playing video games, and hanging out with friends and family. He was lucky enough to live in Colorado Springs all his life and spend time close to his Mom. John is survived by his father, John, sister Beth (Kirk) Moses, nephew Jacob and niece Allison of Windsor, as well as numerous uncles, aunts and cousins. He was proceeded in death by his mother, Rose, and grandparents, Frank and Mary LaSalle and Leo and Elizabeth Ormanoski. Beth and her Dad wish to thank the many family and friends who provided support during John's illness. Special thanks to the staff at Medical Center of the Rockies, Loveland, and especially the 4th floor for showing such compassion and kindness to John during the past three months. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Saturday, November 12, at Saint Louis Catholic Church, 902 Grant Avenue, Louisville, Colorado. Interment will be held immediately following at Louisville Cemetery. After, Tri-City Elks in Louisville will host a reception celebrating his life. ** Please wear Rockies attire (no hats in church) to the mass to celebrate John's love for the Colorado Rockies. ** Memorial contributions may be made in John's name to the Amyloidosis Foundation, 7151 N. Main St. Suite 2, Clarkston, MI 48346 or online at www.amyloidosis.org.

I remember John only at age 6-9 years of age. We lived on Grant Ave. together on that street. We played in the field behind his house alot. (its now been developed). Riding bikes in the back alley and such. I always remembered being in his home an his kind Mother would give us cookies. I also remember his sister Beth who played with my sister. You will be missed John, and sorry that we lost touch over the years.... David Udell

Hey Buddy!!! I sure will miss you. As a kid growing up in the springs I couldn't have asked for a better friend. The six years I spent with John were the best years between being a child, to thinking we were really young men. Jim, Torre, John and I got into lots of trouble but we did a lot of good too. John was the rare type of friend that no matter how many years had passed, when we did hook up it was like we were never were apart. His entire family took me in like one of their own. I express my deepest condolences to them at this time of loss.

Ormo was the 1st person to reach out to me as a friend when I moved to Colorado in 1993. What a breath of fresh air! We became good friends over the years and shared some great times that created stories and memories I will never forget. I was shocked and saddened to hear of his passing. A gentle spirit in a big man who always brought a smile. My thoughts and prayers to the Ormanoski family

I miss you Ormo. who will I "chug a coldie" with now? Who will teach me to make homemade pasta?

Our late night Madden football games were monumental - as was our friendship. Our travels to Vegas, Bonny, concerts, and Rockies games remain glorious in my heart - as do you.
Rest In Peace Ormo - kiss your mom on the cheek for me.

I'm so sorry to hear about this sudden loss of John. It's so strange, heartbreaking, that things can change in the blink of an eye. You were a familiar face for many years when you lived across the street from my family as I was growing up too, and we're so sad to hear about this. Our condolences to your family.

I remember having a crush on Ormo in Kindergarten and thinking he looked like Fred Flintstone. We graduated from Wasson together and became close friends in our early 20's. Many fond memories have resurfaced in the last few days, too many to count. You will be sorely missed by your many, many friends. You will never be forgotten. My condolences to the family.

I think it was impossible to be in a bad mood around the Ormo that I once knew. I doubt that ever changed. Your life is over way too soon, old friend. You deserved better.
