John Pope Obituary

John Richard Pope passed away December 8, 2006 at the Pikes Peak Hospice Center. John was born in Jacksonville, FL on May 11, 1943 to the parents of Virginia and John F. Pope. He married Dorothy Ann Kaminski (Kim), the love of his life, on March 27, 1980. They celebrated their 37th anniversary this past April. They had a daughter, Jennifer Lynn on March 27, 1980 in Heidelberg, Germany. He is survived by his wife, daughter, son-in-law, Tony Flowers, two grandchildren, Katelynn and Garrett, his sister Joan, her husband and two nephews of Las Vegas, NV. John spent 21 years in the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Germany, Korea, and Vietnam. After retiring in 1981 he attended Pikes Peak Community College where he received an Associates Degree in Business. In July of 1981, he was hired by School District 11 as an Assistant Building Manager at Coronado High School. In 1988 John was hired as Head Building Manager at Bates Elementary where he remained until 2000. He will be dearly missed by all those who he came in contact with and had the privilege of knowing him. John was a hard working, caring and loving person. The most important things in his life were his wife Kim, daughter and grandchildren and his fishing buddies. He will be greatly missed and remembered forever. In lieu of flowers you are asked to make donations in remembrance of John to the Pikes Peak Hospice at 825 E. Pikes Peak Ave. #600, Colorado Springs, CO 80903.
