John Rice Obituary

The last 10 years have been so hard without you dad. So much has happened. You have another great-granddaughter and she's a total spitfire. She definitely has the looks and the brains of the Rice clan. She will turn three on the 27th of February and she has her grandpa wrapped around her little finger. Gary and I didn't realize how far away we lived from her, so now of course we're selling the house so we can see the kids more often. I love you dad. I know we'll all be together again someday and that you, mom, and Debbie watch over the rest of us. LM

Impossible to believe it's been 8 years. Love and miss you so much, dad! The holidays are not the same without you.

Sitting in front of the Christmas tree and thinking about how much joy and happiness you always shared around this time. Some of my favorite memories are coming home for the holidays and being with family and you always made sure to go out of your way to make it amazing. Miss you so much. Hope you enjoy your wreath.

I miss you dad in so many ways it hurts. I'm back in school! I'm trying to get a B.S. in Social Work and Political Science. Major goal is to become a Politician working towards getting single women OFF the social welfare system, and providing these young children, who have been abused, counseling so they can realize their full potential! If I can graduate by 2020, Cory Gardner is cooked! And yes...I have already told him that!!!!!!

Poppy another year celebrating your birthday without your physical presence. The void never leaves, but your spirit lives within me. I am so thankful for whoever paid to keep this page open. I can "visit" you each year that goes by. There are no words that can replace the emptiness of not having you here, but you are missed by so many of us. Until I see you when it is my time, I love you Poppy.

A year, hard to believe. Our family is not the same without you, but for me, I have learned much. By faith and the grace of God, I will walk out the character of the person that you were, by faith I will walk out what I am learning in relationship with God. It is the only way that we will be together again. I carry you in my heart and pray that I am the daughter that you brought me up to be. I love you Poppy. <3

Dear Paula and all those kids. While looking for another obit, I found Mike's. I've sent ir on to Gary Whitten (Canadian) and Dave Trout. Will also send it to Rich Terio and Mike Gleason. They all worked with Mike at 14AEROF. Mike was one of the 'good guys' in the office and we're all sorry to hear of your loss.

It was a unique honor to be allowed to care for Mike and his family during his final days. I hope his family will accept my deepest and most heartfelt condolences.

Rest in Peace

I miss our conversations and e mail exchanges, some very recently. What a fine gentleman and long time friend from High School. I am still in utter shock at the loss we all now deal with. You were my only father figure as a child and I'm thankful for that every day. I always thought of you as my fearless grandpa that would always keep us all safe, and that will never change. I miss and love you dearly.

Mike was the first person I met at SAIC in Colorado Springs. His friendship, mentoring and straight forward advice was always appreciated.

You pinned my medal on me when I became a nurse. You were there, always and forever. You forgave me my sins, but gave me the strength to carry on when I needed it. You were, are, and always will be, my inspiration, ,my strength. I miss you in so many ways, it just hurts. I love you Dad.

Thanks to Mike's family for allowing him to spend hours with me on the golf range hitting golf balls and talking about our families. I'll miss him. Please accept my condolences.

I was privileged to work closely with Mike at SAIC for about 10 years. Mike was a true gentleman and a truly good human being. He was also a wise and experienced manager and taught me a lot of what I know about Project Management.

I am thankful for having had the opportunity to know Mike and work with him and send my heartfelt Best Regards and prayers to him and his family.

Poppy I am blessed beyond any words to have you as my dad. You taught me much and never gave up on me. Your unconditional love of family, friends, life will be missed. I miss hearing your voice, "Hello daughter," followed by a smile. Always a smile and a kiss. I love you

Many times during the winter months when I was stranded in CSpgs running proposals for SAIC, Mike would pick me up at my motel and make sure I got to the office safely. On most of those proposals, I could count on Mike to save the day for me when someone else failed. I am proud to say he was my friend and I will miss him...John Kidd

Miss Paula, Jo, Debbie, Lora, Kathy, and Mike your dad was da bomb. He was the kindest person I have ever met and my husband and I were so happy he was now a part of our family as well. We will miss him dearly and continue to say rosary for him daily. He is gone to a better place in paradise but we know we will see him again one day. Our deepest condolences to both families and may you find peace in your hearts in God's name we pray. Amen

Dear Paula and Family,
Please accept my deepest and most sincere condolences. This has been a difficult year for both of us. I will treasure the many times Mike would come over to greet us in church, and ask Peg how she was doing, adding “You look great!” Mike was a kind, generous, thoughtful man who will be missed by all who knew him.

So sad that Mike has died, yet, so happy that he lived. Many great memories. "Kimmy", Angie, and I have always been treated like family. I am honored to be a part of the celebration of Mike's life!

Knowing you lived a full, happy, successful, meaningful life does nothing to ease the pain in my heart and the grief in my soul. Accepting that I will never hear your laughter, be hugged by those long arms of yours, or be able to call you for advice will be the hardest thing I've ever done. I already miss you like crazy, dad.
