John T. Rooks, 83, of Colorado Springs passed away on December 5, 2021 at his home. He was born March 20, 1938 to Albert E. and Louise C. Rooks in Swink, Colorado. He attended schools in Cheraw, Colorado. John enlisted in the Navy at the age of 17 in February of 1955. On March 1st, 1967 he received an appointment in the Navy Warrant Officer program which is an honored accomplishment. He was in charge of setting up radar stations along the East coast of South America, several European countries, and Adak, Alaska. He retired from the Navy after 22 years as a Lieutenant. He then went to work for the Santa Fe Railroad in La Junta for the Communications Department as a wire chief.

John and his wife had been residents of Colorado Springs for over 30 years. He is predeceased by his wife, Jean, parents, and brothers, Floyd and Abert E. Jr. He is survived by his sister Bonnie Casper of Swink, Colorado, and step-son Ron Williams of Palm Springs, California, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Fairview Cemetery in La Junta, Colorado. Arrangements by Johnson and Romero Funeral Home. Flowers welcome or donations in lieu of for The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region (Colorado Springs).
