John Marion Rupley was born in Illinois, on February 18, 1957. He was the oldest of three children, born to Richard Marion Rupley and Doris Harlow (Toye). John passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on May 5, 2018 in Colorado Springs, CO.
John grew up in Colorado Springs and was a 1975 graduate of William J Palmer High School. John was a gifted singer. He sang bass in a gospel quartet and occasionally sang with choirs in the community. He tried his hand at many lines of work; he had a first prize-winning heifer at the Fremont County Fair and grew produce for a few years on his farm in Penrose, CO. He was a car guy and worked in the industry throughout his life. Some of his proudest accomplishments were building cylinder heads for professional racing teams. He also loved working on cars; the Mazda RX-7 was one of his favorites.
John's father preceded him in death, and his mother, Doris Toye; his son, Kyle Rupley; his siblings, Susan Niehans and James Rupley, and his large extended family and friends will cherish his memory. John's ashes will be scattered at one of his favorite places, Somerset Lake in Brown County, Indiana.
