JOHN "JAY" SEBBEN

John Sebben, beloved Husband, Father, Papa, Cousin, Uncle, Friend and Mentor was called home on January 16th 2021. He was born at home in Sopris Colorado in October of 1932 to John & Rose Sebben and was the oldest of three siblings. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Mary Lou, Sister Yvonne (John) Reorda, Sister-in-Law, Irene Jones, 4 children; Kim (Steve) Bosseler, John (Michelle) Sebben, Greg (Cyndie) Sebben, & Mark (Tamme) Sebben, 13 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and countless extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Brother Lawrence and his wife Frances, and his grandson Houston Bosseler.
As a pillar of the community, he spent 2 years serving in the United States Army, 10 years teaching in Sopris, 23 years as a teacher and administrator for School District 11 before retiring to a Principalship at Corpus Christi for 3 years. During his early career he coached various athletic teams for both schools and Little Leagues. He also served as an Extraordinary Eucharist Minister at Penrose Main Hospital for many years. He was involved with the Rotary Club, Habitat for Humanity, Share Colorado and various other ministries associated with the church.
His biggest love was family gatherings and outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, and attending ball games with his family and friends. He was a very generous, thoughtful and considerate person who always put others before himself.
Rosary at 6 PM and Tribute/Memorial Service immediately following on Thursday, February 4th at Cappadona Funeral home. A Catholic Mass will be held at Corpus Christ i Catholic Church on Friday, February 5th at 11AM. This Mass will be live streamed at https://youtu.be/cBmsBhYgZlk.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in John Sebben's memory to Corpus Christi Catholic Church or School, or Catholic Relief Services or Assistance League of Colorado Springs.
