John David Thomas II, born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 1933, son of John Wycoff and Prissy Thomas passed away June 11, 2021 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

John received a PhD in Mathematics from the University of Oklahoma and was a professor for many years at New Mexico State University. He also worked summers in Los Alamos, NM in the testing division.

John led a colorful, sometimes comical, courageous and adventurous life. His deep love of family and friends brought them glee, laughter and a sense of belonging. His brilliant scientific mind did not keep him from singing glorious praises to the Lord throughout his lifetime. His written legacy of family letters, quips and quotes, and clownish photos depict the self deprecating, young at heart attitude that enabled him to conquer polio, childhood family problems, and the tragic loss of his precious daughter Deborah.

John and his wife Lana celebrated 64 years of marriage. Their other children included son David, and daughters Katherine and Patricia.

In addition to his other brothers, John's cousins, step relatives and honorary family members and kind friends brought joy into his life. The family gives thanks to all of these people, as well as those teachers, preachers, employers and peers who encouraged him in his labors. Special thanks also to the First Presbyterian Church and their Memorial Committee, and the "Big Blue" choir.

The memorial service will be at First Presbyterian Church, 219 East Bijou, Colorado Springs, CO 80903, at 10:30 AM on September 16th. The service will also be livestreamed at: https://bit.ly/JTMemorial2021.
