John Trivelli Obituary

Born April 15, 1937, in Philadelphia, PA, husband of 50 years and beloved father of five children, departed our world on July 16, 2005. He is survived by his beautiful wife, Barbara Ann (Graff) Trivelli; his daughters: Lynn Marie Cook of Hickory Flat, Mississippi and Barbara Ann Trivelli of Colorado Springs; and his three sons: John Albert Jr., Steve Allen, and Anthony Joseph, all reside in Colorado Springs. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Anthony Joseph Sr., but is survived by his mother, Theresa; his brother, Anthony Joseph Jr.; and his two sisters: Theresa and Deborah. He retired from the U.S. Army in 1976 and settled in Colorado Springs after serving his country for 20 years. Upon his retirement, Mr. and Mrs. Trivelli began the Colorado Springs landmark restaurant, Trivelli's Hoagies. He will be remembered for his tremendous sense of humor, and the many lives he touched with his wit and love for those around him. A true American patriot who loved his flag and country, he will be missed tremendously by all that knew him. A public viewing will be held at Swan-Law Funeral Home (501 N. Cascade Ave.) on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church (2318 N. Cascade). All are invited to join his family to celebrate his remembrance. In lieu of flowers, his family asks that donations be made to a college fund for children of fallen soldiers on his behalf: Children of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund, P.O. box 3968, Gaithersberg, MD 20885-3968.

Words cannot express the loss we feel all the way over here in New Jersey. Please know that all of you are in our hearts, in our thoughts and in our prayers. Not just now during your grief, but always.

For me personally, no one made a better "blue plate special" than Uncle John. I'm so glad I had time with you all when I lived in Colorado. Uncle John would take me for rides in his big car just to ride over the clumps of snow, regardless of which side of the road. :) He always encouraged me to be the best I possibly could be and to never give up.

He is remembered with such love and with as much humour.

We love you all,

Lorraine, Bob and Catherine Snyder

We were saddened to hear of Mr. Trivelli's passing. Unlike many others in these postings we never met Mr. Trivelli directly. We, however, did get an opportunity to meet him through his family, in particular John, with whose band we spend a lot of time. You often see the character of a person through his family. We saw that in Mr. Trivelli's wife, children, grandchildren and other relatives, Mr. Trivelli passed on humor, patriotism, and love. The're a very open family, close-knit and loving. That shows that John Trivelli has left a legacy that is unmatched by riches, or fame. Love endures, and Mr. Trivelli spread it freely, as is evidenced by his loving family. May God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit be with you all and, comfort you through this time.

Barbara, Andrew and Family,

I am in shock, I just received word and I am so very sorry for your loss. Your father was a very special man and he will always be remembered fondly. It was always a joy when he would walk through the door with his famous hoagie sandwiches and his great big smile. He truly was a breathe of fresh air. God's blessings be with you and yours through this difficult time and know that he touched many souls and was loved very much and will truly be missed !!! Nicholas sends a GREAT BIG HUG to his best friend Andrew !!!

I want you to know how much John and your family mean to Carol and myself. John and I go all the way back to Berlin, Germany where we served together as US Soldiers. John was truly a patriot.

Carol and I will never forget the great times we had with John and Barbara during our many get togethers. I don't believe I ever saw a frown on his face and as soldiers things could and did get tough.

John, you will always be in our fondest memories.

The closeness of your family has always touched me and I admire it very much. I hope that it may be some comfort to all of you to know that many people are truly sorry for your tremendous loss. I just checked my email messages today after a week and couldn't believe what I read. Uncle John will always be special to me, especially as my co-hort in Eagles Fandom while working and living in the Springs. The Trivelli's really were my family away from home, and I can never express my gratitude and affection for the entire family and all they did for me.

I will miss a great boss, a great man, and a great friend. Save me a spot in the bleachers...
