John Yoder Obituary

Yoder
John J. Yoder
September 29, 1929 - March 21, 2018
John was born in El Paso County, CO to Orman Glen and Mary Katherine (O'Connell) Yoder.
John attended schools in Walla Walla, WA and Aurora, CO. He married Berneice Jean Williams on Apr 22, 1951 in Aurora, CO.
John served 4 years in the Navy from 1948 to 1952 on the USS Valley Forge and the USS Bon Homme Richard.
He worked as an installation supervisor for the Western Electric Company and retired in 1987.
He was a great family man, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His family and friends will always remember him as a giving and caring person; a non-judgmental shoulder to lean on and an ear for guidance and advice. His acceptance of all those around him and great sense of humor will be remembered by all those who knew and loved him. John was a lover of all animals, but especially of dogs.
John is survived by his wife of 66 years, Berneice; his son, James Glen Yoder (Rene Marie) of South Bend, IN; his daughter, Beverly Yoder Riggio (Michael) of Windsor, CO; two granddaughters, Brianna Jill Riggio (Cheyne Morgan) of Fort Collins, CO and Kaitlin Jae Riggio (Jimmy Molina) of Las Vegas, NV. John is also survived by one great granddaughter, Gillian Elizabeth Morgan of Fort Collins, CO; and one sister, Dorothy Kelly of Walla Walla, WA. Two sisters preceded him in death; Louise (Joe) Zaro and Mary (Ray) Reid.
Special thanks to his nurses and all support staff of Compassus Hospice, Colorado Springs.
Services will be held on March 28, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Mountain View Mortuary.
Reception to immediately follow.
Private interment will be at Fort Logan.
In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to the Humane Society of Colorado Springs or Compassus Hospice of Colorado Springs.
