MSGT. John F. Yuenger (USAF Retired) passed away on April 10, 2015 in Colorado Springs. He fought against COPD for more than 11 years. He was 70 years old. His life and USAF career was rewarding as a survival instructor for the cadet wing at USAFA, CO.

He was the son of David and Carol Yuenger from Green Bay, WI.

He was preceded in death by his father David, brothers Jim, David and Mark.

John was born in Green Bay, WI on Nov. 16, 1944. Upon graduation from East High School he enlisted in the Air Force. John was stationed in Grand Forks, ND where he met his partner for life Julie Ann Littel. They recently celebrated their 47th anniversary. He is survived by his wife, Julie Yuenger, daughter Jamie and son Jake.

He is also survived by his mother, Carol, Sisters Kay, Maryellen, Ann, and Julie and many nieces and nephews. We are grateful to have had John in our lives for all these years. Yesterday marked 8 years to the day that "big John" (my dad, whom was never a big person, but larger than life) passed away and I'm just now seeing this. Thanks to everyone for the kind words

I was deeply sorry to read about the loss of John a SERE brother this morning on our Survival Facebook page. I never met him in the service, but I did hear good things about him while serving. He was well liked. Each time we light a campfire I'm sure he will be there.
