Johnny Quintana Obituary

Quintana
Johnny "John" S.
Quintana
October 24, 1933
January 25, 2026

Johnny (John) Sandoval Quintana passed away at the age of 92 at Advent Hospital in Castle Rock, Colorado at 11:00 PM, Sunday, January 25th after a brief illness. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend of many. John served in the Air Force and married Frances Gilham married in 1959. The two of them enjoyed the different locations that the Air Force took them, especially Ipswich, England. In 1965, John was transferred to ENT Air Force Base in Colorado Springs where they lived for 60 years.
John studied visual arts in New York. He served as an illustrator for major building projects (pre-computer days) and drew illustrations for publications while serving in the Air Force. After retiring, he engaged in numerous visual arts media including 3D wood carving and sculpting, and multiple works of 2D art. Following his retirement, he spent his leisure time painting, drawing, sculpting, gardening, completely renovating two of his homes, tailoring custom-made drapes, reupholstering many items, rebuilding cars, and numerous other projects. It seemed that there was nothing he couldn't do.
John was born on the Quintana family ranch in Gallegos, NM to Victoriano (1873-1943) and Genoveva Quintana (1902-1976). He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Frances Gilham Quintana, his brother Victor Quintana of Denver, as well as seven children and their spouses: Juan and Connie Quintana of Tucumcari, NM; Sabrina Quintana, Lubbock, TX; John and Roberta Quintana, Colorado Springs, CO; Valencio and Nida Quintana, Seattle, WA; Christina Quintana, Fargo, ND; Christopher Quintana of Denver, CO; and Mark and Jennifer Frampton of Castle Rock, CO. Preceding in passing, were his siblings Roman Quintana (1926-1927), Saturnino Quintana (1922-1984), Francisco Quintana (1923-1991), Tomasita Quintana Chacon (1929-1999), and Natividad Quintana (1932-2021). John has 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, and countless Quintana and Gilham relatives.
Johnny loved his family and he revered the Lord. A celebration of John's life will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026 at Friendship Assembly of God Church, 3685 New Center Point in Colorado Springs: 10:00AM visitation, 11:00AM funeral service, and 12:00PM Reception. Following the brief reception, he will be laid to rest with Military Honors at 1:45PM at the Pikes Peak National Cemetery, 10545 Drennan Rd, CS.
