Jon Huntsman Obituary

Heavenly Father,
Upon this six month anniversary of Jon's passing, continue to bless his family, friends, colleagues and all those who continue to miss him with Your everlasting Love and Peace. May each heavenly lit summer sunset be a reminder of Your awesomeness and how Jon's love for You, your church and his family gave him the inspiration to work and pray hard, changing our earthly world and so many lives for the better. Thank you, Lord, for sharing his great spirit with us all! Amen.

I never met Mr Huntsman. I do know that he was a kind and generous man. After his passing, I wanted to know more about his life, and so I read his memoir, Barefoot to Billionaire. When he left this planet. the world lost a good and decent man. My sincere sympathy to his family.

Very few people have been as sharing and caring as Huntsman has. A persons life is defined by how he lived and what he gave to others. He therefore was a great man

The English language does not offer the words to express our feelings about this gentleman. His spirit of friendship to everyone and everything is legendary. His is commitment to win the War on Cancer was incredible. We will continue this war until we win. Honored to know the Huntsman Family. His legacy is with his incredible Family, Colleagues and Friends.

I was very sad to hear of your loss. I use to buy from Huntsman Chemical Corp and feel like I know all of you because of the beautiful Christmas cards I received every year with a picture of the entire family. I looked forward to getting the beautiful cards along with my colleagues at Christmas time every year. I still have every one of them. So sorry to hear this,My parents Reed and Norma Anderson Where very good friends with his parents in Thomas Idaho . May self and my older brother where friends with Jon and his younger brother at that time also (I was also born in Blackfoot Idaho above the drug store).
All my children also went to Highland some of the same age has your children.
one time he saw Norma at a school activity and was so excited to see her it was a special memory of hers and brought many memories back to her.

Mr. Huntsman was a great man to work for. He treated everyone like his own family.

Fortunately, I have yet to personally experience the great work of this man and his family at the Huntsman Cancer Institute, but others I know have and this is the place I would want to be if I had the misfortune of dealing with cancer myself. I am in awe of people who have the fortitude to not only rise, but excel and bless the world with their accomplishments as Mr Huntsman did; he will be sorely missed, never forgotten, and will continue to bless through his legacy. How grateful we are! My sincere condolences to his family for their loss. May he now rest in peace, as he has earned it!

My heart and prayers go out to the Huntsman Family for the loss of this gentle giant of a man. He truly gave all in the service of his fellow man. He blessed many lives and will continue to bless many lives for years to come with his generosity and his commitment to the fight of cancer. His dedication to this mission saved my sister's life when she was admitted to Huntsman Cancer Hospital in 2004, five weeks after it's opening. Our story is one of many and we will be forever grateful. We know our lives are just a drop in the ocean of the lives that this man touched. To the Jon Huntsman Family - Our relationship with Jon and Karen spans a lifetime. My dear wife Nan was a college friend of Jaren's and we knew many of the children as the were in Middle and High Schools together. Jon and I had a number of business and community contacts and as a Member of the University of Utah Board of Trustees I was privileged to offer the motion to name the arena as the Jon Huntsman Center The Motion was unanimous indicating the high level of support, respect and gratitude of the Trustees and the University. We shared a special love for Kathleen and now that the reunion of Jon and Karen is a special one for both. God bless his memory and God give solace to his family. May his memory be eternal. We will be forever grateful to Jon & Karen and the Huntsman Cancer Institute and Hospital from the moment we entered the library to research Gayle's newly discovered cancer. After two surgeries, 30 radiation treatments and hormone tharapy, Gayle is cancer free and has retired as a third grade teacher at Bonneville Elementary, served two missions with Tim in Vienna, Austria and Ireland, and has been serving for over five years as an ordinance worker in the LDS Salt Lake Temple. We celebrated our 50th Wedding Anniversary with all of our children and their spouses in the Salt Lake Temple.

Thank god for Jon Huntsman and his wife Karen for all the good they have accomplished as a couple. The posterity of there family and loved ones is by far the biggest and precious of all. What a marvelous accomplishment of a great couple in starting a eternal family and watching and witnessing the joy of and heart ache of family life.
I was fortunate to be able to be around President Huntsman and his sweet wife in my days as a missionary in Washington D.C.
As I served as a missionary , Both Jon and Karen where very great examples to all the missionaries ,they showed Christ like love and devotion to all they came in contact with.

What a great man. Kind to all. Generous to a fault. The battle against cancer has certainly lost a champion! He helped both my parents battle their cancer and gave so many hope. Thank you Jon Huntsman! You are an inspiration.

The highest honor of my career was in 2011 when Chairman Jon M. Huntsman invited me to return to Huntsman Cancer Institute/Foundation as its Chief Development Officer. To sit across the desk of this powerful, yet humble man, and hear him say to me that it would be an honor and would be like I was coming home, was such a balm to my soul and stays with me to this day, tucked away in my heart.

Mr. Huntsman, Karen and family chose to create the life-changing/life-saving Huntsman Cancer Institute when many thought it wasnt possible. That is the true measure of greatness and I was privileged to have been part of that for 9 years.

Jon was my mission president in 1982-83. One of the great blessings of my life was to work in the mission office where I was able to get to know the Huntsman family in a way that most missionaries couldn't. Aside from my own father, I can't think of any man who has had greater impact on my life. As a young missionary, it was clear to me that integrity was fundamental to everything he did. He taught us to level with others, to seek respect over popularity, to recognize the difference between love and like, to avoid re-inventing the wheel, to understand the power of simplicity and consistency. I remember disappointing him once, and vowing never to do it again. He was quick to forgive, reminding us that "pencils have erasers," and telling us that the way a person deals with failure reveals more about them than their successes. I remember feeling like I could run through brick walls when he put his arm on my shoulder and told me what he needed me to do. As much as he accomplished in his remarkable life, I believe his influence will only increase with time. I have nothing but love and respect for Jon, and my thoughts are with Karen and the entire Huntsman family as they face the challenges ahead.

We wish to express our deepest condolences. Jon was an exemplary and honorable man and the best example of the LDS culture and Church. He has been one of my heroes in ingenuity, business, and philanthropy. Before I met some of your family, I was impressed with and followed Jon. Once I had the honor of meeting many of you in The Woodlands and him personally, I became more impressed. Our world has lost one of its all time best. To all the Huntsman family, please accept my heartfelt condolences over the loss of this great gentleman. I never met Mr. Huntsman, but I am one of the MANY benefactors of his vision, tenacity, and compassion; I am a patient at the Huntsman Cancer Institute. In that regard, I can speak from first hand experience to Mr. Huntsman's humanitarianism and generosity and the fact that he has helped SO many others whom he never even met,like me. I will never forget him.

I am so grateful and humble to have met him and was able to thank him for being a saving grace on my cancer journey. I have loved him from afar. May God bless your family with love and comfort at this time.

Mr. Huntsman was a humble man and gave so much to us as a company and as an individual. It was my privilege to have worked for this company while they were in Chesapeake for 10 years. I worked for Huntsman Chemical in Chesapeake Virginia and to this day all that worked there have said what a great place it was and I truly believe it is because of how Jon let us do the job and how he cared for us. I received a letter from Jon years ago for some emergency response work I did for a fellow employee that I have to this day. Never met a man who could meet you one year and three years later come up to you and call you by name and shake your hand and ask how you were and your family. He truly was a shining example of how we should treat each other in this world. I will always smile when Jon and your family are mentioned. Blesssings to all of the family.

Having served with him as a missionary back in Washington D.C. from 1979-1981. He was such an inspiration to all of his young elders and sisters. Such a humble and down to earth man if you didn't know who he was which I didn't at first. I was from Santa Cruz California and all the missionaries from Utah certainly did. I loved that man so much he guided us all with such love and inspiration that has lasted a lifetime. May the Lord comfort and give you strength at this time.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Your Dad was a friend of mine, back in the 80's. I was Sales Manager at G & L Yamaha. On Christmas Eve, your Dad had me deliver the Yamaha YZ-80. We hid it on the patio. I am pretty sure that was your first motorcycle.

We are deeply saddened to hear about the passing away of Jon Huntsman Sr. I first met Jon in England in 1999 and since the first meeting I realized what a great man he was: visionary businessman, who cared for his workers, families and communities. I am retired now, but a few years ago, in visiting my daughter at Utah university, Jon gave us a great reception, which we will not forget. The world lost a great man.

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Mr. Jon Huntsman, Sr. It was decades ago when I turned on the TV and he was on a classroom teaching, "So you want to become a writer," where a panel of well-knowns were there to share their struggles in their adversities to fulfill their dreams come true, and Mr. Huntsman spoke of his beginnings,telling of how he grew into a millionaire, at the time.
My own dream was to become a published writer, so I wrote to him, and he sent me his book of inspiration,tells of trust and "a handshake to seal the deal." We corresponded back and forth a couple times, but after that I became affiliated with his Huntsman Cancer Hospital in Salt Lake, Utah. All in all, he was the best inspiration I had in my early life as a writer; now I have six books published. I have thought of him often, proud to have learned of him and his touching accomplishments. Rest in Peace, Jon Huntsman--I honor you!

President Huntsman was my mission president 1981-1982. He and his family were greatly loved by all who served under his inspiring leadership.
He taught us to work hard, to be accountable, and to enjoy the work. I consider him and his wife, Karen, to be two of the greatest mentors in my life. I love them!
Over the years I have watched the Huntsman family make service and charity work as the main focus of their lives. We should all be inspired by there great examples.
May God continue to bless the Huntsman family in all of their charitable endeavors! And may He comfort them as they mourn one of the most inspiring men who ever lived!
