Jonathan James Ewell, born May 25,1950, passed away at his home in Black Forest, Colorado Springs, Colorado on January 12, 2024. Jon was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to James and Marjorie Ewell and was the youngest of four siblings, He attended Indian Hill Exempted Village Schools from kindergarten through twelfth grade, graduating in 1968. He then attended Hiram College and The University of Cincinnati. His move to Colorado found him creating a career as a builder/contractor for over 45 years as well as having a career in real estate, raising black angus cattle of which he was very proud, and being a behind-the-scenes partner at Academy Art and Frame. He was a proficient game hunter and participated with various hunting clubs and supported many charities including supporting native communities in New Mexico. Jon enjoyed traveling, but spent much of his later years working, gardening, relaxing and hunting with his beloved dogs at his ranch in the Arkansas Valley. He was a devoted participant of Chautauqua Institution in Chautauqua, New York, where he spent several summers enjoying the Chautauqua lectures and performances. Services for Jon will be held at Academy Art & Frame Company, 7560 N. Academy Blvd., Colorado Springs, Colorado, on May 27, 2024, at 11:30 A.M. All who wish to attend are most welcome.
