When I looked into his eyes all I saw was love. The last time I was him he told me, I have forgiven everyone who has done wrong against me, and you should too. Forgive, Forgive, Forgive he said to me over and over.
I told him I love him very much and I was going to pray for him to get better. It put a big smile on his face that lit me up inside.
I was proud of my Uncle. When he told me he went to Vietnam with 4th ID when he was in the Army. It made me happy that I served with 4th ID in Iraq. It made me feel closer to him somehow. To me it seemed Uncle Joe enjoyed the simple things in life, the sky, the mountains, and beauty (his wife) that the Lord allowed him to share and see. I hope I never lose sight of the simple things in life, like him.
I love my Uncle Joe so much, and my heart hurts knowing he is gone. But on day when the trumpet sounds I will see him again. Until then, may you rest in the ever loving peaceful arms of Jesus.
Aunt Renate, you have all my love and respect. If there is anything I can do for you all you have to do is ask. All I think of when I think of you is how much LOVE you have in your heart.
I love you!
