Jose E. Maciel (AKA Rudy), 90-yoa, passed away on March 18, 2022, in Albuquerque, NM.
Jose was born in Pueblo, CO, on October 2, 1931. He is preceded in death by his wife Mary, father David, mother Frances, sister Aurora (Votie) Gonzalez, and brothers David and Benny Maciel. He is survived by his sisters Tillie Mertens of Margate, FL; Laura Martinez of Redondo Beach, CA; and Caroline Benson of Albuq., NM; children Jolynn, Rudy, Sherrie, and Mark; and many nieces and nephews who deeply cared for him.
Jose was a member of our armed services (Army) for over 20 years, after which he pursued many interests including becoming an entrepreneur who owned his own food truck business and as a security guard, with memorable times working at ENT Credit Union. In addition, he enjoyed being an umpire, fishing, metal detecting, and the "occasional" visit to the casinos in Cripple Creek and Albuquerque with his baby sister Connie. He will be remembered as a kind son, brother, uncle, and friend.
Cremation has taken place. Donations in his name will be accepted at American Patriot Service Corp, 1-505-702-8027.
Special thanks goes to Holly McReynolds of Colorado Springs and the staff of Albuquerque Uptown Assisted Living, who provided him with care and compassion during the last years of his life.

The Buckley SFB military Retiree Activities Office (RAO) would like to offer our sincere condolences and our gratitude for Mr. Maciel's service to our country in the Army. If you would like help with any matters related to casualty assistance, Defense Finance & Accounting Service, Survivor Benefit Plan (SBP), Veterans Affairs (VA), etc. you can contact our office on Buckley SFB at 720-847-6693. The RAO is staffed by volunteers, all military retirees themselves, and our sole purpose is to provide assistance to any military retirees and surviving spouses/family members with anything related to their military service and/or benefits, in particular during difficult times such as this. We are deeply sorry for your loss.
