Joseph Casey Obituary

Joe Casey, age 82, a resident of Colorado Springs, CO, passed away peacefully on July 29th 2009 at home. Joe is survived by his wife, Alberta Casey (Johnson). Together they raised 6 children, each one ‘his favorite', enjoying 9 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild who will all miss him and his unwavering love and support. By being ‘perfect' he taught each and every one of them how to love, be loved, and embrace life. Joe was originally from Duncombe, Iowa where he met and married his one love, with whom he recently celebrated a 60th wedding anniversary. They moved to Illinois, working for the Rockford Register Star and raised their family in Loves Park. They were longtime members of St. Bridget's Catholic Church. Through their travels they choose to retire to Colorado Springs in 1989 so he could view his ‘Peak'. They are members of St. Mary's Cathedral. Joe was the best husband and dad. This is reflected in his family. His smile is something that will be remembered by all who knew him. He lived life with passion, loved working the daily crossword puzzles, radio controlled airplanes, kites, and his daily whiskey and diet 7UP. Joe was an early advocate and user of the computer. He volunteered many years at the Colorado Springs Senior Center, teaching and helping people learn and use the latest computer technology. He thoroughly enjoyed contributing to the production of the La Cresta Park's newsletter. Joe will be remembered with hearts filled with love. A memorial service is pending. Friends are welcomed at a gathering at La Cresta Club House, 205 N. Murray Blvd on Tuesday, August 4th, 11-2. Alberta asks that you keep him in your prayers. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to Rocky Mountain Cancer Center or Odyssey Hospice.
