Joseph Guerin Obituary

Joseph Orlando Anthony Guerin, May 20th 1937 -Nov 30th 2016. Joe Guerin, (aged 79 years) passed from this life peacefully on November 30th, surrounded by his family, wife Maria "Lily" Guerin, his sisters Eumelia, Chana, all six of his children: Bo (Joe Jr.), Baba (Helen), Damian, Eric, Ben, David and his many grand and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Albessa Guerin. Survived by his siblings: Eumelia, Benito, Chana, and Mary. "Joey" was born May 20th 1937 in Hohne, Colorado.

He was married to Lily (Valdez ) for 60 years. He proudly served in the U. S. AirForce. He was an intellectual. He taught himself to read and dreamed of attending college. He was a certified Master Welder, metal fabricator and pattern maker; he earned a BA in both Sociology and Fine Arts at UCCS. He became a counselor with expertise in drug and

alcohol addiction.

He touched the lives of his community with compassion and insight that is only seen in the best of us. Joe was the beloved patriarch and the keystone of his family. A critical thinker, lover of literature, music, art and free thought. He excelled at painting, drawing, sculpture, wood carving, stained glass, and fine wood work; he loved to dance and joke.

He passed his scholastic virtues, and artistics talents to his children and grandchildren. His memory encourages us to

embrace the beauty of life, enjoy music, fine wine and food, good philsophical and political discussions, to always question, to be compassionate with people and God's creatures, and to always fight the good fight.

The radiant memory of his life persists in all who survive him and in all the lives he touched. He will be greatly missed. He died as he lived - fighting the good fight.

Rosary Recitation, 6pm Tuesday, Romero Chapel. Mass of Resurrection, 10am Wednesday, Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, viewing prior to both services. Relatives and friends will be received at Romero Courtesy hall following services.
