I worked with Joe for many years at WPAFB. I last talked with Joe at the ENE retirees luncheon at Logan's Roadhouse in May. We talked about his cars and what was happening with them. Joe was a true engineer and always found a solution to any of our problems. He will be missed.

To the Joe Hooker Family,

I met Joe over 30 years ago as he was one of my very first mentors when I began my federal career as a young engineer. He taught me many things about working for the Air Force and always had a good story to make his point. He could make anyone smile and always kept things in perspective. Our paths crossed many times as I moved on in my career and my family remained in Beavercreek over these years. Our thoughts and prayers to the family. May Joe rest in peace.

Dad, there are many things I will miss about you; one that comes to mind is getting Snoopy stuff from you in the mail. There was a cardboard box with my name on it in the closet as we started the long, sad job of sorting through all your stuff. Inside the box were the typical odds and ends that you usually send me in the mail: articles you thought I might be interested in, comics you cut out of the paper, little things you got at garage sales for my heathen, etc. And, of course, Snoopy stuff! My last physical treasures from you. But the internal things you've given me will last at least for my lifetime, if not my son's, because I'm trying to teach him some of the things you taught me. Love you, Dad!

Jim, Mike, and Laura,
I've known your dad for 28 years and David has for almost 9. There aren't enough words to express how great your dad was. Anything any of us on W. Lynn needed, he was there, he knew everyone in Beavercreek. If we needed a tool, he had it and if he didn't, he made it. We could spend many hours talking to him and never grew tired of his stories. He was an amazing man, father, friend, and neighbor. He accepted everyone for who they were and never said a harsh word about anyone. May all of the memories help ease the loss that you are feeling. We certainly will miss sitting on the porch and watching him and Lucky out in the yard, seeing him drive out in his MG for a ride, or just getting to stop at the mailbox for a chat with him. If you need anything, just ask, we're there.

I am just shocked to hear that my dear friend Joe Hooker passed away. He was my dear friend at work and we connected after retirement. We spent long hours talking about engineering at his job. In our spare time he would talk about his MGs. After his retirement I picked up some of his work activities and NATO documents to keep them up to date. The support equipment group was downsized so their work was given out to other engineers. I was glad to know him and he was a warm and friendly individual who was always kind to others. I know he will be with God and heaven will welcome him.

Joe has been a long time active member of our Miami Valley Austin Healey Club. We are so sorry to learn of his passing. We just saw him in May @ the British Transportation Museum's Top of the Market Show in Dayton. He said then he was having some painful problems in his illness but some new treatment was giving him some relief. We admired the way Joe continued to do all the things important in his life despite these setbacks. When Dave accompanied his WWII Vet Father-in-law on an Honor Flight he was pleasantly surprised to find Joe was on the same flight too:) Joe & Lucia were both so devoted to their family and friends. Our heart goes out to Michael, Jim, & Laura, his grandchildren & two surviving brothers in the loss of Joe. British Car Day and September Roundup will never be the same to us without his presence. We will forever share fond memories.
