Joseph Romero Obituary

May 1, 1936 - Jan. 10, 2008. Joseph Vincent Romero, 71, of Colorado Springs died Thursday January 10, 2008 at Sunny Vista Living Center after battling cancer. Romero was a long time resident of Colorado Springs. He retired from the Climax Mine in 1987. Romero also served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, of which he was a former Exalted Ruler in Salida, CO. Romero loved spending time with his family, and playing BINGO with his wife. Survived by his wife of 35 years, Candy Romero, Mother Celia Montoya, two daughters Celia Montoya and Patricia Romero (Chris). Son Joseph Vincent (Bertha) Romero Jr. Step-daughters include Eileen (Andy) Herrera, Betty (Henry) Medina, Joann (Tito) Vigil, Niva (Jerry) Medina. Step-sons are Lawrence Archuleta, Felix (Nadine) Archuleta. His sisters include Laura (Frank) Arellano, Myra (Eugene) Gonzales and Tomasita (Dan) Cohrs. Brothers are Charlie (Connie) Romero, Manual (Paulette) Montoya, and Henry Montoya, also including numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father Jose Vincent Romero, Sr., and his step-son Raymond Archuleta. Viewing service will be held at Swan Law Funeral Directors 501 North Cascade Ave, Colorado Springs on Monday January 14 at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Service will take place in Lakewood at Grace Fellowship 9210 W 2nd Ave., on January 15 At 11:00am. Burial will follow at Fort Logan National Cemetery 4400 W Kenyon Ave, Denver. Honorary Pallbearers are Jimmy Medina, Willie Archuleta, and Brandon Joseph Medina. Pallbearers are Jerome, Jeremy, and James Medina, Joseph and Dominic Archuleta, and Raymond Vigil.
