Josephine Johnson Obituary

Josephine B. Johnson, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, a lifelong resident of Colorado Springs, passed away on January 30, 2012 surrounded by her family at the age of 83 after a long battle with chronic lung disease. Jo was born in Colorado Springs to Guy and Rose P. DelMastro both of whom preceded her in death. She graduated from St. Mary's High School. After WWII, she met and married the love of her life Raymond J. Johnson on October 6, 1946. They celebrated 35 years of marriage before his passing. Also greeting her in heaven is her sister Mary Ann DelMastro. As a long time successful business operator, she co-owned the Poor Boy Inn Restaurant and Drive In, Poor Boy Restaurant and Lounge at Murray Square and Murray Plaza Liquors. In her diverse work career, Jo also modeled for various department, fur and jewelry stores in the Colorado Springs area. She was a department manager at the Fashion Bar and manager at an appliance store. Jo was also active in the Republican Party and many Colorado Springs social and community events. She is survived by her three children Jack (Connie) Johnson of Monument, CO, Randy (Mary Ann) Johnson of Bozeman, MT and Terri (Don) Rhodes of Wheatridge, CO. She was blessed with eight loving grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many cousins, nephews and a niece. A celebration of life will be held at St. Peters Catholic Church in Monument, CO on Friday, February 3, 2012 starting with a Rosary at 9:30 AM and memorial Mass at 10 AM.
