Jo Sorge, 98, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2024 surrounded by family and friends. Jo was born in Princeton, NJ on May 18, 1925, the daughter of Joseph C. Sweigert and Jeanne Sweigert.
Jo married Marlowe B. Sorge in 1945. They were married 64.5 years before his death in 2010. Jo kept their large family of nine together and happy during numerous moves as a military wife. After her husband retired in Colorado Springs, she worked at Howe's Pendleton.
Throughout her life she demonstrated Jesus' love through service. She volunteered for decades serving at the Lord Supper, the Air Force Academy Pharmacy, the Episcopal Thrift Shop, mission trips to Pine Ridge Reservation and as an active member of the ECW.
Her family will never forget her love, humor, and feistiness. She is survived by her seven children Kurt (Joy), Eric, Elliott (Hugh), Marlis, Keith (Karyl), Tanya Gormley (Dan), and Lawrence (Babette), 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; a brother John Sweigert. She will be dearly missed.
A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 5 at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 7400 Tudor Road, Colorado Springs, 80919. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Rare Sisters Foundation, raresisters.org or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
