Josh Sommervold Obituary

May 23, 1986-January 3, 2008. It is with great sadness the family of Josh Rolland Sommervold announces his passing. Josh was born May 23, 1986 in Colorado Springs, CO. Our beloved Josh was granted his angel wings on January 3, 2008 following a senseless act of violence. Josh's life was far too short, but those who were touched by him understand that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time one lives. With Josh's passing, we remind others that his life is one to be celebrated. His friends and family will hold dear the memory of Josh's kind, gentle, fun-loving spirit. Josh would want us all to remember the happy times and the laughing times–he so loved the time he spent on this earth! We will all keep his spirit alive in our hearts for as long as we live. Each spring, Josh looked forward to the boating and camping season at Lake Pueblo. He and his family spent most week-ends there for all of his life. Each fall, Josh looked forward to pheasant hunting at his grandpa's farm in Minnesota and the annual elk hunting trip to Vail. When first snows flew, Josh was ready for snowboarding at Copper Mountain. His 4-wheeling adventures and going to Nuggets games with the guys were among his favorite things. He worked for the past two years at Atmel Semiconductor and was so proud of working in the same industry as his Dad. The things he held dear to his heart included his family, his dear friends, his classic 1995 Firehawk, and his dog Indy. Josh is survived by his loving family Bob, Linda, and Justin of Colorado Springs, CO; maternal grandmother Helen Beyers of Pipestone, MN; uncles, aunts, and cousins: Rick, Judy, Shane, Angela Beyers of Holland, MN; Jim, Denise, Megan, Bryce Beyers of Pipestone, MN; Barb, Steve, Candy, Ryan Snickers of Duluth, MN; Pat, Bill, Theresa, Michelle, Jeff, Adam McClain of Chandler, MN; Sandra, Gary, Chris, Greg Wozniak of Tyler, MN; Jacque, Lon, Tara Kunze of Balaton, MN, and Gary, Pat, Alan, Patrick Sommervold of Tracy, MN; Dan, Bev, Jeff, Stephanie Sommervold of Granite Falls, MN; Linda, Ken, Kim, Kody, Kory Burch and Randy Sommervold of Ruthton, MN; Jody, Penny, Dillon, Dustin, Austin Sommervold of Marshall, MN. He was preceded in death by his Grandpa Rolland Beyers and Grandparents Elroy and Ardis Sommervold. Visitation is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 11th at Swan-Law Funeral Home, 501 N. Cascade Avenue. Services will be Saturday, January 12th 10:00 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church, 1401 S. 8th Street (1/4 mi. N. of Brookside). Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, or Summit County Search and Rescue. You are invited to view Lifetime Tribute photos and leave your personal remembrances of Josh at www.mem.com.

Please realize in your time of grief that you have many friends out here thinking of you. You are not alone. I only met Josh briefly in Crested Butte skiing several years ago, and at the Pueblo Reservoir boating, but I know what a wonderful son he was and how much the world will miss him. Please accept my deepest condolence.
