Joyce was born in Mishawaka, Indiana to Carl and Dorothy Bralick, the third of eight children. The family moved to Edwardsburg, Michigan in 1959, when she was four years old. She attended elementary school there for several years, after which the family moved to Sargent, Nebraska, where she attended junior high and high school. Joyce graduated from Sargent High School in 1973.
In 1974, Joyce married Keith "Tos" Young. They had two daughters: Kristin, born in 1976, and Hayley, born in 1984. Joyce and Keith divorced in 1986.
In 2004, Joyce married Jimmy Presley; their loving marriage lasted until her death. The marriage provided Joyce with the blessing of a third "bonus" daughter - Christina.
The Bralick family was a musical one; from age 5, Joyce played the accordion, and was a player in the family band. The accordion remained a life-long pleasure for her; while growing up, Kristin and Hayley spent many weekend mornings listening to her play, while Woody the family dog provided vocal accompaniment.
Working as a waitress for ten years at the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs provided Joyce with the means to finally return to school at the age of 30. With two children, while working full-time and attending classes full-time, she graduated in 1987 from the Pikes Peak Institute of Medical Technology with a 4.0 GPA. She worked as a Registered Medical Assistant for thirty years, and was able to retire in 2017.
In early 2019, Joyce was diagnosed with cancer, and underwent surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation treatment. Her cancer went into remission; however, she experienced a rare adverse effect from one of the chemotherapy agents, and contracted severe lung disease. It was recommended that Joyce relocate from Colorado Springs to a lower elevation, so she and Jimmy moved to Clermont, Florida.
Her daughters and their families enjoyed frequent visits to Florida to see Joyce and Jimmy, and loved spending time on the lanai and in the swimming pool; sitting on the lanai and watching her granddaughters Fiona and Maxine swim brought Joyce immense joy.
In mid-2024, Joyce's health deteriorated further, and after consultation with her medical team, it was decided that she could safely be moved back to Colorado to be closer to her daughters Kristin and Hayley. She moved into an assisted living apartment at The Bridge in Longmont, where she was lovingly cared for by their excellent staff. On December 1, 2024, Joyce died peacefully surrounded by her family.
She was preceded in death by her father Carl, her mother Dorothy, and her brother Tony.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Jimmy; her daughters Kristin (Paul) Hrenchir, Hayley Nalley, and Christina Presley (Craig); granddaughters Fiona and Maxine, and grandson Brandon; siblings Carmen Young, Rebecca Taylor, Andrew Bralick (Susan), Liz James (David), Jean Stryker (Tad), and Arthur Bralick; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved pup Ozzie.
A Funeral Service will be held Friday, December 6th, at 10am MST, at The Springs Funeral Service, 3115 E. Platte Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80909.
Burial will follow promptly at 1pm MST, at Pikes Peak National Cemetery, 10545 Drennan Rd, Colorado Springs, CO 80925.
