Judith Cheyney Obituary

Cheyney
JUDITH "JUDY" HELEN CHEYNEY
October 21, 1948 April 5, 2022
Judith (Judy) Helen Cheyney, friend, wife, stepmother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed from this world to eternal peace early on April 5th. Judy was born in Duluth, MN and was a loving and creative woman, a terrific cook and homemaker, and loyal friend, who laughed frequently. Judy was fortunate to find love twice in her life. First, with her late husband, Colin Cameron, for 23 years and second, with her current husband, John, in a 22-year relationship. On Judy's and John's wedding day, she was heard to say, "l became a wife, mother, and grandmother in one day and didn't even have to go through labor". Judy loved travel and was able to visit England, Scotland (many times), Germany, the Czech Republic, and Spain. She and John would take many long road trips around the United States towing their temporary home behind them. She loved the outdoors and, with her friend Mary, led hikes in Mueller State Park for a time. She loved visiting the National Parks and Monuments and made trips to Grand Teton, Yellowstone, Glacier, Acadia, Grand Canyon, Zion, Bryce Canyon, Arches and Canyonlands, Sequoia, and Banff Canada. She was an accomplished watercolorist, a charter member of the Cripple Creek Arts Alliance, and often donated her paintings to non-profit organizations to help them raise needed funds to continue their missions. She loved listening to the Cankicker Band. She is survived by her husband John, stepdaughters Melissa (Cheyney) Britton and Amanda Cheyney, grandchildren Mitchell Britton, Nickolas Robbins and son Keagan, Kylee Britton, Marrina Del Re, and Caleb Parise; sister- and brother-in-law Diane and George McLeer, brother-in-law William Cheyney, countless nieces and nephews and many, many friends. Hers was a life well-lived and she will be sorely missed. A viewing will be held at the Swan Law Funeral Home on Friday April 15th from 5-8pm. ln lieu of flowers please donate to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society in her name.
