Judith "Judy" N. (Nelson) Diaz
August 16th, 1939 - October 14th, 2017
Judith Nelson Diaz of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away October 14, 2017 at the age of 78.
A Navy wife, elementary school teacher, and mother, Judy was born August 16, 1939 in Durban, Natal, Republic of South Africa. She has resided in Colorado Springs since 1993.
Her interests included the Assistance League of Colorado Springs, P.E.O. Sisterhood, Red Hatters, Boy Scouts of America, and her family.
Judy is survived by her beloved husband of 48 years, Capt. Donald G. Diaz USN (Ret.), her daughter Jennifer D. Berry (Jamie) of Cumming, Georgia, her son Lt. Col. David S. Diaz USA (Catharina) stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, her brother John David Nelson of Litchfield, Minnesota, and sister Esther Hunter of Sherwood, Oregon. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Tristan, Andrew, Jackson, Jillian, and Juliette.
A memorial service will be had on Saturday, October 21st at 10:00 AM at First Lutheran Church, Colorado Springs, Colorado. She will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Assistance League of Colorado Springs or Boy Scouts of America, Pikes Peak Council.
