Among her many accomplishments, Judy earned both Bachelors and Masters degrees in Education. She retired from District 20 Schools in 1999, last serving at Wolford Elementary School. She married Frank Gertcher on April 17, 1963, and continued to travel to many military assignments. After Air Force retirement in 1984, Major Gertcher and Judy built a home in Colorado Springs. During her active life, Judy worked with Frank and raised two children, Lisa and Joseph. Both finished college and have successful careers. Judy and Frank also have two wonderful grandchildren, Ryan and Taylor, and a loving son-in-law, Jay. Judy was a special friend to many at Wolford and in the community. She cared deeply for her family and friends. Judy is survived by her husband Frank, her mother Dortha, her son Joseph, daughter Lisa, grandchildren Ryan and Taylor, and sister Sharon. I would like to express my condolences to the Gertcher family. I had Mrs. Gertcher as a teacher years ago and am still reminded of her these days. I am sorry for your loss and hope that you know that she had an effect on many people's lives.

Dear Frank, Lisa, Joseph, Jay, Taylor, and Ryan,

Yes, Judy was such a wonderful wife, mother, and friend. I had many fun times with Judy. We taught together at Wolford Elementary. I would pass my little second graders on to her in third grade. We were a great team! After we retired, she and I started our famous "cooking club," and served many a good meal to our families. I had fun with her family as well. One time she invited me to join them at Water World in Denver. We did all the rides with Lisa, Taylor and Ryan. I treasure all these memories and will always remember what a great friend Judy was. I hope this entry shows just that! Sincerely, Joyce Riccitello

To Frank and the rest of the family: I am so sorry for your loss. I had talked to Judy many times in the past on the phone and she was always very sweet. Thank you Frank for sharing her with us (at work) you shared pictures of your family, many of you and Judy on your wonderful vacations. I will keep you and yours in my prayers. God Bless you.
