Judy Ann (Quick & Tritt) Cuwik age 78 of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away on July 13, 2024. She was born on November 9, 1945, to Thomas B. and Ruby W. Quick in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She was an only child.
Judy graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor's of Science Nursing in 1968 After graduating, she married Kennith Tritt. After her divorce she changed her last name to Cuwik. Judy also earned a Bachelor's of Arts degree in English from the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs, in 1975.
Judy served honorably as a US Air Force nurse, terminating her service at Peterson, AFB, Colorado in 1974. She continued her career as an RN until she retired in 2009, after 41 years. In 1976 Judy became a member of Sokka Gakkai International-United States of America (SGI-USA), a Buddhist lay organization. During her 48 years of membership she held various leadership positions, sang in the chorus and introduced many friends to Buddhism. Judy had a passion for reading and was a successful author of children's short stories. She was a dog person and adopted several rescues.
In 2006, Judy persuaded her mother, Ruby, to relocate to Colorado Springs. They spent the next eight years doing many activities together. Their favorite activity was working on crossword puzzles after Sunday lunch. Judy is survived by her partner, Barbara Palincsar, and their dog Murphy.
A memorial service will be help on September 7, 2024, at 2:00 PM at the SGI-USA Buddhist Center, 5520 N. Union Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation the to the Pikes Peak Humane Society.
