Judy Herrera Obituary

Judy Herrera of Colorado Springs, 70, died on June 7, 2017. She was born in The Bronx, New York in 1946, the only child of Boris and Mary Goutkin.

Ms. Herrera came to faith in the Lord at a young age and identified clearly with His love for her throughout the joys and struggles of life. Judy saw the people she encountered as loved children of God and encouraged them of that truth. She was extremely compassionate and walked with others deliberately through all types of trials and griefs, making it her mission to 'not forget' that comfort and companionship were still necessary, even after the crowds faded. She was involved extensively in ministry at Holy Apostles; she loved to both study and teach the Word of God.

Ms. Herrera leaves behind 4 daughters, their husbands, 8 grandchildren, and 1 great granddaughter. She was known as "Amah."

A memorial service will be held on June 23 at 10 AM at Holy Apostles Catholic Church in Colorado Springs with Father Paul Wicker presiding. Memorial gifts in Ms. Herrera's memory can be made to The Mesa House: 420 Mesa Road, 80905.

Your mother was such a wonderful caring woman who always had Christ shining through her to others. If I saw her at Holy Apostles, Benet Hill or on the street she always warmed my heart with her smile and the love of God!

She was one of those rare people with the unique ability to make you feel important & loved every single moment you were around her. Her positive attitude, enthusiasm & smile were contagious. Judy was one of the sweetest, gentlest, most compassionate people I've ever known. I was blessed to call her my friend. We met over 20 years ago when resettling a family from Bosnia, and I got to experience how her life graced the lives of others. I am so sad that we are out of town and will be unable to attend the Mass celebrating her extraordinary life. Soar with the angels in heaven as you walked as an angel on earth!

My sincere condolences for your loss. May God help you to heal during this difficult time. Ps. 147:3. "He heals the brokenhearted; He binds up their wounds."
