Judy Radspinner Obituary

Judy Radspinner was born April 19, 1950 at Camp Carson, Colorado. She passed away February 7, 2013 at Pikes Peak Hospice. For nearly 3 years she courageously fought the cancer which took her life. Many thanks to the doctors and nurses who work in the oncology department of Memorial Hospital - both Central and North. Judy was always a great lover of animals. Her pinto horse, Duchess, was her constant companion for ten years. She was an excellent scholar, receiving a scholarship to Vassar and when Yale opened their doors to women, she was one of the first to attend and graduated from Yale in 1972. Her basic philosophy of life was "Native American," caring for and preserving "Mother Earth." In 1991, she married Francisco Tarango-Duarte. In 1993, they were blessed with a very special baby boy, Juan. Judy was able to live long enough to see him graduate from Doherty High School and become a great young man. Judy is also survived by her mother: Bessie Radspinner; ex-husband: Francisco; brothers: Jack (Cris), Jerry (Sharon), and Jessie (Flo); and sister: Janne (David). Private graveside services will be at Antioch Cemetery, Yoder, Colorado. Online Condolences: ShrineOfRemembrance.com

I am so sorry for your loss. Judy was a great friend and inspiration to me 40 years ago and I will always remember her soft voice and easy laugh. I'm so glad I got to meet her wonderful mom and son a couple of years ago. May you be at peace.

I keep thinking about the family getting together and looking forward to the Celebration of Life this summer. My first thought is always, "Judy will really enjoy it." Then I remember that she won't be there - except she will. She will be looking down, smiling and laughing that infectious laugh. That's what I remember about her, and of course how super smart she was. Miss you cousin. Rest in peace. ~Rosie

My Wonderful Sister-In-Law Judy - I am so sorry that Judy has passed over. But I believe that she is in Heaven and feeling only happiness and lots of love right now. I will deeply miss her, especially, at Family Gatherings. I will miss conversing with her and experiencing her love for nature and her Indian Heritage. May God Bless all of us and make us strong enough to deal with the loss, especially her immediate family – Juan, Francisco, Bessie, Jesse, Jack, Janne, and Jerry.

Judy, thanks for letting my brother and I ride Duchess. Riding horses at your place in the Black Forest is one of my best memories from childhood. I miss you already and will always be proud of you. You raised a wonderful son, Juan. Love from your cousin, Joe.
