Julia Germer Obituary

December 18, 1920 - July 21, 2008. Julie Germer, age 87, passed away on July 21, 2008 in Colorado Springs. Julie was born in Trinidad, Colorado to Mike and Vera (Maxday) Malouff. She attended Catholic school in Trinidad, Colorado and became an RN after attending the Seton School of Nursing at Glockner-Penrose Hospital, Colorado Springs. After working briefly in Los Angeles, California, where she daringly went to live and work with her best friend Marcelle Worl, she returned to Colorado and worked as a nurse in Trinidad and Alamosa. She married Melvin Germer on May 31, 1950, and they had two children: Melvin Douglas (Doug, who predeceased Julie in 1983) and Susan Lynne. Julie supported and assisted her husband Melvin, son Doug, and daughter Susan in building a very successful retail clothing business in Alamosa, Monte Vista, Pueblo, Canon City, and Colorado Springs. Julie is also survived by her husband Melvin, her daughter-in-law Patricia Germer-Coolidge, and four grandchildren, Reagyn Germer, Susan Germer, Daniel Germer-Stecklein, and Douglas Germer-Stecklein. Julie was also preceded in death by her brother Michael Malouff and her sister Betty Seeley and survived by her sister Rosalie Burns and brother Ferris Malouff. Julie was an avid bridge player and reader and loved to dance. She was vivacious, outgoing, and outspoken, and she had many dear friends and many family members, nieces and nephews, who will all miss her terribly. A private memorial will be held honoring her life on August 2, 2008. In lieu of flowers, please send donations (as tuition scholarships) to the Beth El School of Nursing, University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, Colorado Springs, CO 80933-7150.

Julie, You will be missed!! One of my fondest childhood memories is that of our family visits to Colo. Sprgs and our shopping sprees in the Germer's Levi's store. However, it was during one of our last visits to the Springs that you taught my husband Roy and myself that we should always keep the "Kettle One" in the freezer. Hence, every night at cocktail time we salute you. Love you so very much, your niece Maureen Calvetti
