Julian Martinez Obituary

Julian Nash Martinez, age 87, passed away March 30, 2011. He was a lifelong resident of Colorado, living in Fountain for 60 years, and worked in building maintenance. Julian was born on January 9, 1924 in Eaton, Colorado to Julian and Rumalda (Romero) Martinez. He married Thelma Jean Lamorie on July 20, 1952 in the St. Paul Chapel at the Broadmoor. He was a World War II veteran. He is survived by his son Dennis (wife, Susan) Martinez; his daughters: Deborah Grogan, Dorothy (husband Brian) Garner, Doreen (husband Chris) Hernez, Victoria (husband Jason) Audiss; his sisters: Flora Esquibel and Ermina Garrola; 6 grandchildren: Jennifer, Julie, Brittany, Gregory, Madison and McKenzie; and 4 great-grandchildren: Skylar, Daciana, Denicya and Nash He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma; a son, Dale Martinez; a daughter, Dianne Martinez; and a brother, Nestor Martinez. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 4, 2011 at Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful� Chapel. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Fountain, Colorado.

Connie Garcia and Family, of Olympia, Washington would like to offer our sincere condolences and prayers to the family of Junior Martinez. My husband, Henry P. Garcia Jr ., now deceased, and I, Connie Soto Garcia, are cousin to Junior through our parents Pablita Romero Garcia and Henry Garcia, Sr. We all grew up together in Eaton, Colorado and though times could be rough, we still shared great times being with family. They will always be remembered fondly.
