June Aune Obituary

June T. Aune, 91, passed away in Polson, MT of natural causes at her daughter's home, with family by her side.

She was born in Kelliher, MN to Julius and Thea Benson.

They preceded her in death.

She attended Kelliher Public School.

June married the love of her life, Allen Harding Aune, on September 20, 1941 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Kelliher. They moved to Colorado Springs in 1956. They were married for 64 years until Al's passing in 2006.

June was a member of First Lutheran Church, Sons of Norway, and co-owner of AAA Self Store All Warehouses.

Always the passenger, June contentedly traveled thousands of miles with Al driving, visiting family and friends throughout the western states.

Hand-written poems, love notes to Al, journals, cards and letters were one of her special gifts. She baked tasty bread and delicious cinnamon rolls. She was a devoted Colorado Rockies fan, lutefisk lover & life-long Democrat. She proudly shared her love of Jesus with others.

Survivors include her six daughters and their families: Alexis Aune, Janice (Bob) Martinez, Theresa Pniak, Lynne (Karl) Tait, Christie (Pete) Molinari, Candy (Kerry) Lesoing; 19 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren & 1 great-great grandchild; sister, Geraldine Bernu; many nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends of all ages! She was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 20, in Kelliher, on Al & June's 73rd Anniversary. It was Mom's wish for their ashes to be buried together on that day.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 25, at First Lutheran Church, 1515 N. Cascade, Colorado Springs, CO 80907. Reception to follow at the church.

Our Mother will be dearly missed. We would like to thank our loving family and friends that have lifted our spirits with their kind thoughts & prayers.

Dear Family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you today. I loved her and delighted in her cards, and scripts. A classy looking lady always, loved her smile and her denim. Love you all,

To all the great neighbor girls in my life,

I always admired your parents and your mom was so funny! I am amazed that they raised all of you in that house with one bathroom and avoided hair pulling fights on a daily schedule!

Seriously though- all of you girls are to be admired for the beautiful women that you have become. You all are such sunbeams bringing joy and happiness in the world....and it is all due to your fantastic parents!

I will always keep them and you in my heart, Love to All!
