June Rasmussen Obituary
June grew up in Steeleville, Illinois and graduated from Chester High School in 1951 and from the Kansas City Art Institute in 1955. She worked as a graphic artist for the Officer Training School in Leavenworth, Kansas, and at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri. She also worked as a photographic retoucher at Stegner Portraits.
June married Arthur Rasmussen and moved to Colorado in 1958. She was devoted to her family and raised eight children, passing on her Catholic faith and her love of art and the outdoors. June was active in antique club and enjoyed hiking, camping, and traveling to new places. She was an active volunteer at St. Paul Catholic Church and the Skyway Association. She cherished all of her long-standing friendships.
She is survived by her sisters, Charlene Joost and Val Przychodzin; brother, Wayland Downen; children, Julie (Howard) Ong, Tom (Vickie), Tim (Janet), Jane (Tim) Peplaw, Jim, Christine (Jim) Thomson, John (Shannon), and Rachel (Rod) Novotny; and grandchildren, David, Katherine, Emily, Maria, Gabriella, and Annie.
A Rosary will be recited 6PM, Friday, February 7th, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 9 El Pomar Rd.
A Memorial Mass will be held 11AM, Saturday, February 8th, at St. Paul Catholic Church.
Inurnment will take place in Percy, Illinois.

Dear Rasmussen Family,
It is so difficult to fathom the loss you have been experiencing the past few months. Your parents were married for such a long time, and it is very difficult to imagine June without Art and Art without June, but now they are together forever in Heaven and that must bring you solace and peace. Their faith was evident in the way they raised you all. They extended their beliefs to all who were fortunate to know them. I feel extremely blessed to have known them and all of you. Unfortunately, I will be unable to attend the celebration of life, but please know my prayers and love are with you all!

Such a shock to see this in the paper. My son and I met June 5 years ago while he was doing volunteer work in preparation for his confirmation. She always enjoyed seeing him at church,and now he is an usher. June was such a lovely person and I know I will miss her. I loved spending a little time talking after mass with her. To The Rasmussen Family,
I have nothing, but fond memories of your mother. She was always so friendly, sweet and quick with a smile and a giggle. I don't believe she ever said an unkind word about anybody. She was an excellent role model and cared deeply for all who had the honor of knowing her.
She will be missed, but her legacy will live on for eternity. May God bless you all!
