June Worlton Obituary

June Beverly Meyer Worlton, 92, of Bountiful, Utah passed away on July 8, 2022, surrounded by her loving family at the Colorado Healthcare Resort in Colorado Springs, Colorado. June was born on June 13, 1930, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Johannes Martinus Hendrik Meyer and Lena Johanna Hendrika Wielders. She graduated from Davis High School in 1948. After high school, June loved to sing and share her voice as part of the Melody Maids choir. The Melody Maids travelled across Utah and sang at many events. This continued throughout her life as she volunteered her time at church, leading the congregation in song, as well as the primary children. She adored her parents and siblings and was the only surviving daughter among 4 brothers. June always had a very positive and cheery outlook on life and could easily put a smile on anyone's face. She was always fondly remembered as a sweet person by all who met her.
She married James T. Worlton Jr. on September 3, 1954, and worked to help put Jim through medical school. They lived in Rochester, Minnesota, San Francisco, California, and the Navajo Indian Reservation in Arizona among other cities before settling down in Colorado Springs. They raised 3 children, Jim, Julie, and Jeff, in their home on Crown Ridge Drive since 1963. June and Jim travelled extensively throughout the world. Mom's favorite trip was to Paris, France (as she adored the beauty of the city, the flowers throughout, and the locals). June always loved the view of Pikes Peak from her living room window and never took for granted the beauty of the mountains.
June is preceded in death by her former husband Jim, her son John, her parents Johannes and Lena, her 2 sisters, JoAnne Lena Meyer and Christina Meyer and her brothers Joe Meyer and Don Meyer. June is survived by her brothers Bruce Meyer (Pat) and David Meyer (Bernice), her children, Jim Worlton (Susie), Julie Potter (Dan), Jeff Worlton (Michelle) and 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. There will be a viewing held at 9:00AM and funeral service at 10AM on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 5375 Centennial Blvd, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80919. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to all the family, friends, and neighbors for all of their help, love, concern and prayers during June's journey through her life.

My mom, Betty Nolan, was June's cousin on the Wielders' side. "Aunt June" was part of mom's wedding party and was an on-going positive presence for her.

As a kid, I looked forward to Aunt June's annual Christmas newsletter. I was so amazed to hear about her trip to Africa. Then when we visited Colorado, she kindly hosted my family and shared treasures from that Africa trip. (We were careful not to hit the masks during our Ping-Pong tournament in the basement.) June also shared wonderful meals and family stories. Our daughter loved Tigger!

June continued to support my mom by phone over the years - as they reminisced about aunts, uncles, cousins and Grandma/Grandpa Wielders. We value the family history that June assembled with such loving care. My condolences to Jim, Julie and Jeff and their families. I appreciated our connection to your mom.

Great childhood memories that I will always treasure, Aunt June. Our families had so much fun together. Thanks for always being such a good friend to my mom. See you when I get home. Sending my love to Jimbo, Jeff and Julie. Your mom was awesome.

I have fond childhood memories of spending a ton of time at the Worlton's house, like a second home for me. Mrs. Worlton was always happy and smiling and pleased to have me over. I always smile as I remember her playing basket ball (mother's weren't supposed to do that). My sincerest condolences to Jimmy, Julie and Jeff (and their families) on the passing of such a wonderful person.

Just thinking of June brings smiles to my soul. I knew her through our service and friendship in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was always so supportive and encouraging to all around her. I thoroughly enjoyed our many years together in book club. In a conversation about forgiveness, I remember her saying something like, 'Oh, good golly, life is too short; we just need to forgive.' June was full of wisdom and love, and I'm so grateful that I was blessed to know her.

Julie your mother was the sweetest and kindness person. I still have the cookbook she gave me in 1982. You will always have her in your heart.

I met June last July while my husband was recovering from a broken leg at the Healthcare Resort. She and her girlfriends sat at a table next to us daily during meals. We enjoyed our conversations. She was a delight.

When I think of June Worlton, several memories come to mind. I knew her first in the mid-1960's in Colorado Springs. She was beautiful and fashionably dressed. ALWAYS a smile on her face. She was a faithful church-goer and served in many callings as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In her later years, I had the privilege of getting to know June better as we were in a book club together. She was an avid reader and had wonderful insights to lend to our discussions. She was a hands-on Mother, a wonderful cook and homemaker, and loyal friend. Missing you, June!
